Surprised to catch a CW on TV
Okay, okay, it's an old series but it's the first time I've watched it.
In the final segment of the final episode of Britain's Secret Treasures (2013), a presenter dives the wreck of HMS Colossus off the Scilly Isles and I jumped when I saw the watch she was wearing... a CW Makaira 500 Pro! There's no mistaking it. I really liked that era of CW watches. Cool.

I wonder If I would have that. I amuse myself by trying to identify the watches worn by stars.

Good spot For!
For those that get anxious about taking their CW in the swimming pool or shower.
Yes I know, soaps/chemicals and seals etc...(the plastic/rubber ones not the animal, they don't impact your WR in the shower)

Good spot. Great to see a dive watch being used for what it was made for!

Re: Surprised to catch a CW on TV
From the archive product description:
“Introduced in August 2012, the C11 Makaira Pro 500 is a dive watch based on the design of the C11 MSL range. It is the first CW watch with an internal bezel”
500m water resistance and a unidirectional rotating bezel? Sounds pretty divey to me. Countdown bezel or not.

Re: Surprised to catch a CW on TV
You are half right. It's an aviation inspired dive watch... which is what makes it so recognizable.

To me, it was a pretty clever and unusual diver precisely because it had pilot-watch looks.
And I always wished - of the whole C11 range, not just the dive model - that they made a smaller version for small wrists. I'm not counting the W11 because it was a quartz model.

Re: Surprised to catch a CW on TV
Agreed, I loved my C11 (my first CW as it happens) but the lug to lug overwhelmed my 7" wrist and I had to let it go. Can't beat them for legibility.asqwerth wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:13 am To me, it was a pretty clever and unusual diver precisely because it had pilot-watch looks.

Re: Surprised to catch a CW on TV
Likewise I loved the C11 and owned that particular version as well as about 6 others but ultimately had to admit defeat that it was just too big for my skinny wrist
Good spot though by the OP. The only other CW I recall seeing on TV is of course the C60 bronze that Matt Tebbutt has often worn on Saturday Kitchen (UK cookery programme).
