Do not, do not, do not give the crown a sharp tern to try and free the rotor. This issue is very common on 2824 and SW200 movements and relates to excessive friction within the reversing wheels and/or the automatic winding mechanism. You can often free up the mechanism by first wearing the watch for a short time to warm up the internals if cold (cold watch makes the lubrication less fluid). When warm you can turn the watch vertical so the rotor swings down rather than horizontal and GENTLY, I mean gently wind the crown to see if you can wind the watch, if you feel skipping then stop immediately. Wear the watch for about half an hour and try again. If no change than you will need the reversing wheels and the gear mechanism of the automatic winding to be disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed in the correct lube for reversing wheels. this is a suspension of oil in solvent where you dip it in and let the solvent evaporate leaving a thin coat of lube on the wheels (ETA Lubeta V105 and V106). This is easy to do, I have done three CW watches at home and even posted the method and photos on this forum a few years ago.

@Andy-Smith a little too late for me, but thanks for the advice! I don’t think I’ll chance it again. Do you have a link to the thread you posted a few years ago?
