Will you also make that true retroactively to non-CW sales as well? It will equalize the perception across the board, rather than simply favoring CW. :D :p

Vouchers going away won’t really change my buying new in the future. I do feel it would have been a nice last hurrah if CW had announced before ending the voucher program that it had run its course. It’s a feel-good act to make the announcement prior. But we also need to recognize that all CW vouchers expired in the past; they’ve chosen to stop issuing new vouchers.

I’ll share that my next, known, incoming from CW, playing the LE field, was not going to benefit from the voucher anyway and I’m OK with that. And I’m also OK with the idea of paying in advance for it, which seems to upset some.

Overall, what I’m expressing is a general satisfaction with the CW business model in addition to the products. This move is upsetting some in the short term but sensible in the longer term.

Kip wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 9:09 pm The discontinued vouchers will not have a serious impact on the bottom line short term. I played with the numbers and I bet they are only profiting an additional 1-2%. Not much of a price increase, if you view it that way, if you ask me. CW did have a price increase last April. Since then, inflation has continued in most parts of the world. CW has continued to absorb the cost increases. Nobody says anything about that. Eventually they will need to raise the prices again as will everyone else at some point.
Your predicted impact on the bottom line to CW of 1-2% overall is different from the potential price increase for a customer using a voucher. They would be hit by an increase of around 10-15% I guess?

CW can do what they like but for some it is a price increase by stealth, or at the very minimum it raises the average product selling price achieved by CW, no matter how few purchases are made using a voucher. I think that is the general point made where there has been more negative comments and a little warning may have generated extra sales now. To refer to serious entitlement is a little unfair. However, as CW are not entitled to people's support, enthusiasm and custom either it will all work itself out in the end.

Totally agree with the decision by CW on this…..their watch proposition offerings stand by themselves and are exceptional value. Hope it’s only two NN/clearance sales per year - otherwise no further discounts.

The pre-owned market is always at the ready for those seeking a less than retail option….

Whilst I agree with the removal long term, a heads up would have been good. Like others I was thinking of the sale as an option to pick up a watch I was interested in at a reduced price, with the voucher as an alternative, however I may now consider second hand or another brand entirely.
Yes, CW are a good value proposition, but with people tightening their belts I think it will lose them more than 1-2%

Ultimately this will also put more focus on the sales for people looking to save a little money. Given these are quite often are affected by scalpers I hope they do something about restricting multiple purchases this year....

CW already has a purchase limit in place for their sales.

Details are in their T&C's.

At least it will help people from feeling they have been caught out as they bought a watch at the MRSP and the next person got one for £100 less. We all get the same thing at the same price!
Also when people mention about being in higher price ranges now, I can’t see that as the MRSP hasn’t changed 🤔

Thanks for the information and postings... I just wish this happened *after* my first CW purchase (with a coupon, obviously). ;)

Had a quick skim and couldn't see anything that mentions limiting purchases?
The last sale (it might have been a few ago) I looked at, loads appeared on ebay very soon after

If this has now been properly implemented, that's great news

I don't recall ever reading a professional review that stated CW was only a good value when purchased with a voucher.

All companies use gimmicks . I received an email from CW today about a limited supply watch? I click on the link and it was sold out? I did this immediately after getting it. I am still getting emails offering $125 off on my first purchase, even though I have already bout a CW. I normally do not purchase more than one watch from a maker.

They wouldn’t though if they wanted to stay in CW’s god books in order to receive more samples in the future to create more content.

But it was quite a common trope in YT video reviews of CW. The line was "of course you never pay full price for a CW as there's always a sale or a voucher for them"...

your prob right for YT, maybe the when the OP was referring to Professional review they meant something else. with regards to the prices it is still for the main part true.
