Out of the subject, CW certainly is doing a poor job on packaging. Every of my parcels arrived with damaged boxes. There really is no protection at all outside its CW boxes. Imagine how bad international shipment would be like. If that's the reason to call it's poor value, I def understand.

I'm happy paying for it, but always like free shipping offers. Since taking an Amazon Prime subscription for eg I think I take having things posted next day for free* for granted.

*ok it's not free, but I use it enough to warrant thinking it is! Plus there's all the video and music now...

When living in Aberdeenshire it came RM anyway as couriers didn't like operating in our postcode. Now we've moved south, things are coming DPD.
Alex,

I must admit I prefer Royal Mail and as you say, the couriers are bad in Aberdeenshire (particularly DPD).

CWL always send my watches by RMSD due to the DPD issues.

Maybe CWL could offer free next delivery for regular buyers.

Since the only way to buy a CW watch involves postage (unless one travels to the two shops) for me it's better to know the cost of the watch plus the postage. I shouldn't like the postage to become a hidden cost, because such costs can creep all too easily.

Another vote for the two being expressed separately, even though, once I have made a decision to purchase, I conveniently expunge the postage cost from memory.

another reason for separate shipping. If I buy a watch strap, it incurs a small shipping charge. If I buy a watch, it also incurs shipping. However, If I buy both, they can be shipped together in one parcel, for the same cost as the watch alone. With hidden shipping, you are paying 2 shipping fees, and the company pockets the profit.

I think is more clear if price and shipping (including handling) are separate. Free means free, it's no right if shipping (free) are included...

I'm okay with paying for postage and packing (P&P or for the American audience "shipping"). I generally cringe about the cost of next day shipping and go for standard. The cost of packaging materials and time can be calculated with some accuracy and I am less happy about P&P being a profit centre. Mind you given the typical price of a watch shipping costs are a small fraction of the cost.

There is no such thing as "free" in the retail industry....the costs are just packaged differently. I'll rather have more clarity & transparency in what I am paying for...so basically...shipping separately from the cost of the watch.

Are you more attracted to an item if the shipping is included or would you rather pay it separately, even if the price totals the same?
I wouldn't say I'm more attracted but would say if it's free I'm happy for it to take a bit longer to arrive but if it's something I've paid for I'd expect a prompt delivery with a few options to change days etc and a text with a time window. So basically I'm happy paying for the shipping with CW as you get a good service

I also think it is a given that a small profit on shipping is ok considering there are packing/shipping materials plus time and effort to process/ship.

Agreed a small profit is ok to try and cover materials and time but if I felt it was more than a small profit it would put me off. So again happy with CW costs as when I've sent a watch on in the same packaging royal mail it cost me £8.55 which I think is cheaper that CW shipping cost

I would prefer extra shipping costs.
One point was already mentioned. When i buy more items i pay shipping costs for every item if it is included in the price.
And the second point is that the buyers in UK and EU already have to pay the high VAT and in addition the higher prices for a potential oversea delivery.
I already bugs me that Europeans have to pay more for their own products than the rest of the world then please at least let everyone pay for the whole shipping cost to their place.
