I was looking at 5 day automatics specifically. Hand wound will always be thinner but they are more niche especially in the current lineup.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 5:12 pm ^^^ I think some of the hand-wound C8 were under 12mm, and the C9SS is 12.3

Re: SH21.2
I thought I had heard/read somewhere that the supply chain wasn't sufficient to be able to manufacture the SH21 for an open flagship model. Maybe part of the SH21.2 is updates in that area to be able to provide more of these movements for a standard model?
I'd like to see a flagship model - C60 or C63 - with an SH21 chronometer with a high PR (doesn't need to be the full 120hrs). Diameter reduction wouldn't need to be drastic, but I think thickness reduction would be more important. 12.3mm for a manual winder isn't very thin.
Give me a 39mm Sealander SH21 auto with small seconds, about 10mm thick, 70+hr PR. That would be impressive. Depending on the pricing.

Re: SH21.2
Sorry, I didn’t realise you were limiting it to automatics. Niche is good. Especially if it turned out to be under 40 mm and a bit dressy.

Re: SH21.2
Yep, although I'll not be greedy and settle with 11mm or so

If I AM being greedy, make the watch a little bit chic. Just a bit of special. As it stands the Sealander is maybe a tick too versatile if that makes sense. I love my Sealander for that, but an SH21 is still a step up and must be in price.
I think something Oris has gotten wrong with the 400 releases is that the watches are too "standard".

Re: SH21.2
If CW are able to produce an updated thinner version that is able to fit in down to 38mm models that would be great. I would rather have thin with a PR of 72hrs, than thick with 120hrs.
If the movement is designed to fit too wide a range of case sizes they would probably end up with instances where the date wheel looks too far in from the edge of the dial. Mind you it wouldn’t be a problem for me, as I would be unlikely to buy a 42mm or 44mm model.

Re: SH21.2
I look forward to a slimmer SH21 update finding its way into a smaller, dressier watch.

Re: SH21.2
Go the Calibre 400 way or Tudor's latest MTs (PW and pinpoint accuracy) and I'm good. They need their 40-and-under watches to offer more than Sellitas.
Cant wait for more info.

Re: SH21.2
Based on the relationship/friendship between Mike and Roger Smith, it would be interesting to see a co axial escapement finding it way into the SH21 2.0; based on the bel canto buzz, it would be another significant shockwave type move by CW, imho
Re: SH21.2
^^^ I imagine that the Swatch group own the rights to use the co axial escapement?

Re: SH21.2
I think that the patents have expired and technically anyone can use it.
It feels to me that you gain about 1mm in thickness though. The Aqua Terra 38 is about 1-2 mm thicker than the 39 Sealander.
