I've registered 2 email addresses (the first about 2 months ago) but never had an email yet. The CWL system must have read my bank balance and decided I wasn't worth the bother

As a C3 auto doesn't seem to be on the cards, I think this will tempt me to push the button as I'm very keen on everything else about the C3.

Thanks again
Get one, this is a great opportunity to aquire a really nice piece for a good discount and it doesn't get any better than that :D . In terms of looks, elegance and versatility, this is up there with the best CWL's out there. It was my first over 5 years ago and I doubt I'll ever move it on. In fact I wear it a lot and of all my watches, it draws the most inquisitive looks.

Cheers,
Jack.

Pre-ordered the C3 yesterday, due mid-May. Black dial on steel bracelet. Will add a tan aligator and probably a Hirsch rally strap in near future. Elegance and versatility sum it up for me, too. Suspect it will get a lot of wear.

Well done Savvypaul! You won't regret it.
Funny you mention the tan - I'm finally getting around to ordering one myself so I can swap it around with the black. Even greater versatility for a few ££'s.

Cheers,
Jack.

Hmmm, I registered for the mails too, but just checked my inbox and also the spam filter and nothing from CW? This seems to be a recurring issue, anyone know how to remedy?

Just browsing the offer and am wondering if the difference between a C5-Q-SWT and C5 SWT is merely the exhibition back?

The movement is the difference. The C5 Q is quartz and the C5 is automatic.

The C5-Q-SWT is Quartz. And, the dials are different.

The quartz are still nice watches though.

I'm very tempted by this offer in order to get a nice dress watch, and I have fancied the C5 for a while. However, as it is a watch that I would only wear occasionally, would it be better to get a quartz movement rather than an automatic movement? I'd welcome any advice on this, as I haven't got a watch winder and would rather not have to get one.

Thanks.

I'd rather go for an auto over a quartz normally but if you don't have or want a winder you'd really need to go quartz.
My C3 Malvern is great as a dress(ish) watch. Goes very well with a suit for work. The quartz movement helps keep it slimmer as well so doesn't prove uncomfortable worn under a shirt cuff.

A lot of people consider quartz to be a poor relative the autos or handwound which is a bit unfair really. The main issue with an auto is that if you only wear occasionally, as I do with my C5 auto, then you have to reset the time every time you want to wear it.
The only real difference you're likely to notice with the quartz version is the lack of a sweep second hand, but at least you "pick up and go".

Apart from the issue of having to reset the time each time, are there any other issues, e.g. is it bad for an auto's mechanism to spend long periods not operating?

(Sorry, I'm a bit new to auto watches!)

I would go for the silver dial but having already got a couple of watches recently I can't really convince she who must be obeyed that this is also for a birthday, event, festival etc
