Scuffs on C5?
Scuffs on C5?
I've noticed that the polished case of the C5 scuffs rather easily (or I'm just way too rough with it). I'm 99% sure they aren't scratches, look more like scuffs. Anyone had this "problem"? I put that in quotes because I think it may be easy to buff them out, just not sure the best way. Any input is appreciated!

Re: Scuffs on C5?
I've had a C5 SWT since Dec. 2005, and I wear it a *lot*. It does take the occasional bang. While the case has a few minor scratches, the crystal is mint, and there are no signs of scuffing.
The scratches are less than on my Seiko chronograph (that gets less wrist time), even though the case of the C5 is polished to a higher gloss, so you'd expect the scratches on the C5 to be more apparent. So the C5 seems to hold up rather well.
The only watch I have that apparently stands the test of time better is my Omega Genève Automatic, which, after decades of regular use, still looks remarkably pristine. But then again, many decades ago, this watch was three times as expensive as the C5, without inflation correction.
What sort of environment does your C5 face?

Man with one watch, always know time. Man with many watches, never sure.

Well, I don't want to give the impression that they are bad scratches or anything like that, and the crystal of course is still perfect.
I work with computers all day, nothing very hard on a watch. In fact, the "scuff marks" I'm talking about happened last night, when I accidentally hit my hand on the wall. It as just a normal wall, not concrete or even wood, fairly soft actually, for a wall, and there are a couple marks on the case. You have to look at it in the right light to see them, but they are there. The polishing cloth helped a little I think, but not a ton.

Re: Scuffs on C5?
I have a couple scuffs here and there. I have thought about trying to buff mine out. It is my inderstanding that the polished case can be buffed. However, sometimes I also think that it is the scuffs that make the watch mine. The watch got the scuffs being a part of my life. Erasing them would be like deleting a part of my life. So I have learned to somewhat appreciate them. But you never know when I might decide to try to have them removed.

Small scuffs are very easy to remove, I use Cape Cod polishing cloths for this, works very well!

Re: Scuffs on C5?
Where would someone typically order Cape Cod polishing cloths? Also, is there a limit to how many times you can get away with polishing like this? Do we need to worry about polishing through some layer to something that will look unfinished?Hans wrote:Small scuffs are very easy to remove, I use Cape Cod polishing cloths for this, works very well!

Re: Scuffs on C5?
I ordered mine from their website:
http://www.capecodpolish.com/
As always with polishing, don't over-do it!! But once in a while a light polish will do no harm and will make the case look like new!
