Same Watch Different Color

Post by scampbell61 »

I have been overthinking this situation and was curious if other members were ever in the same boat. I have the white GMT Sealander, which has developed into one of my favorite watches. Last month, I was knocked over by the release of the green Sealander. I don’t want to sell my white Sealander, but I also want the green version.

Has anyone ever owned the same watch in different colors? It doesn’t seem prudent to own the same watch in different colors.

Thanks,
sc

Perfectly normal behaviour I reckon.

Seems far more sensible than picking a different colour dial for a watch different to the one you already own, just to avoid having what some weirdos would call duplicates. :)

Someone will be along shortly to post a pic of a box full of Tridents, that only differ in colour. Or perhaps a box of Speedmasters.

Perfectly normal behaviour - go for it. I had several colours of the original Orient Mako as I liked the watch. I only have one left now but no issue having different colours of the same watch at all. As Neil has already said, there’s plenty of folk about with box fulls of Tridents, Seamasters etc..,

I have done it a couple of times with CWs. C3 chronographs and C5 Slimlines. I don’t have any of them now. I don’t count the two C70s, as the DBR1 and the Ascari COSC are different models with different movements.

I certainly wouldn’t buy the same model in two different colours nowadays.

I have both C5 aviator mk 1 in the black and the white. No I do not think it is a problem having the same watch in different colours. I would love to have several Rolex DJs or OP s to match my clothes / mood.

Say what? Are you trying to infer that maybe some people don't own entire colour ranges? Dear goodness me!

I have never owned the same watch in different colours at the same time, I have however sold one and bought the same watch in a different colourway. (See separate post for discussion on this word.....)

I’ve owned Mk2 and Mk3 tridents in different colourways as well as the Bremont S300/301

When I bought my first CW, I had the mindset of not owning more than one of the same model (of anything).

I currently own three C60s (a DLC Vintage Pro, a red GMT, and a bronze ombré LE). That policy was thrown out the window after the second watch.

Yes. It's a totally different watch if it's a different color.

In the five years I’ve been active in the forum, I’ve never read a thing to suggest prudence is a factor in the purchase of a watch!

But what you like!

Nothing at all wrong with that!

I’ve had C60s with white, black and blue dials. All at the same time.
I’ve had C70 rapides in steel and red/black 3-handers plus the Chrono. At the same time.
I’ve had Bremont S300 and S301 models, and now I have 3 different Alt1 models.

You obviously like them, and the different colours have different personalities, so why not?
My name is 0uatiOW, but before you ask, no I don’t.
