I agree that the notification is not very helpful. I got it 5 hours after sale started. I don't see why they couldn't delay the launch to match the timing with notification. That'd be a better customer experience.

It feels like it helps them with the hype and interest in the sale.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, they’re in the business of selling watches, and the sale seems to achieve that end quite efficiently.

Likewise I received the email several hours after it became known that the Sale watches were available. Whether that knowledge was official or not is questionable and may have been through a general search on the CW website.

I appreciate that you missed out on the wider choice of models but it might be a case of "Careful what you wish for" for the Sale to be delayed until everybody is informed that it'll start at "hhmm on ddmm" as everybody will then be trying to access the website at the same time and it'd either crash, be too slow to buy a particular watch or all would be snapped up in the first few minutes anyway purely through numbers accessing it. Then there'd probably be different type of comments/complaints maybe asking why the start is not staggered.

Nothing is perfect.

I do check on here and I am a member of both the CWE and CWA Facebook groups but I shouldn't need to rely on second hand information that I should also have received first hand.
Yes, I'd say my experience mirrors yours.

This time I saw the link in one of the Facebake groups several hours before my gmail account received it and mis-filed it in "promotions" which I have previously instructed gmail not to do. Fortunately I am so excited by the prospect of a minor bargain that I know to look under cushions etc for the email. I count myself as lucky to be retired (should that be "remould"?) and thus able to sit at home flicking the refresh icon on my laptop.

(In fact I'm still refreshing the sale page against the possibility of more stock being added and the number of results going up rather than down.  )

I don't know how CW's "all addresses" mailshot is configured: the mailshot is addressed to my email address which begins with numeral 5: I'd have assumed that any sorting order would be numerals first before alpha but hey, what do I know. What I do know is that this sale day activity has got to boost the number of hits at the CW fb groups.

If CW website can't handle too many people accessing at the sale, they should work on their technical issue. I am sure the complaint will be why they can't scale up their website to support the sale, not to ask for the sale to be staggered.

^^^ If you want the sale delayed until everyone has got the e-mail, then it will never happen. Some of us just don't get any notifications from CW!

My experience in terms of the website not crashing is certainly better than before the update. I do however think there needs to be more work on dynamic stock control where items no longer available are marked as sold rather than still in stock but unavailable to add to your basket, or appear as 'Null' entries on the webpage which makes it look amateurish.

I did get the email for the previous two sales (Jan and Jul ‘21) in a timely manner. This time it was delayed a few hours. These issues of timing happen with other mailing lists as well. CW cannot control how the emails are routed to various servers around the world. Whether you’re 5000 feet or 5000 miles the internet traffic is generally pretty fast. Sometimes connections get delayed or interrupted. I got my email about 6 hours late in the US. Oh, well. I missed out on some deals. The world didn’t end; my life didn’t grind to a screeching halt. I hear, and understand, the frustration. Regardless, we will not always get everything exactly as we want.

And can we halt the complaining about flippers and scalpers? There are simply not that many of “them” out there in the CW space. Refer to the last sentence of the previous paragraph.

Try to enjoy what you do have.
