Rotor spins while winding watch

Post by cryptkeeper »

When I'm manually winding my C60 the rotor starts spinning. I can hear it and the watch starts to shake when it spins fast.
It didn't do that a week ago...

Any ideas on what it might be?

Do you attempt to manually wind whether you are wearing the watch or not? It sounds to me you are manually winding a near fully wound spring.

I also thought of that but I've allready tried winding it after the watch stopped and even then the problem also occurs.

I would spare anymore attempts in trying to wind your watch up, instead send it to No.1. Clearly there is something amiss.

I have read about this and experienced it temporarily in the past. I can't remember the exact details but I believe it's along the lines of the rotor clutch sticking. I think it's an easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing, but would need to be sent back to CWL nonetheless. Perhaps give them a ring and see what they say.

It will be one of the auto winding ratchet wheels jamming.

I wrote a bit about in my watch servicing post, page 2

It is an easy fix, but I be sending it back to CW for a warranty repair

Hope this helps.

Ah, thank goodness, someone who knows what they are talking about. :)
