My wife hasn't been impressed by the women's range from CW, but she isn't that fussed about watches generally.

From my perspective though, I would like to see a the development of a smaller range of unisex watches. The current focus on 42mm and bigger is taking things out of my comfort zone.

And I think the current 20% discount on all Women's watches (including the W61) looks ominous for the Women's lines!

I don't think they should be discontinued I currently have 3 I would like to buy but as a woman and a mother I would never pay for the belisama range I would be scared to wear it

I really hope Christopher Ward does more women's watches in the future - why should we have to miss out? Especially more ladies diver watches, try and get more versions of the 'coral' watch would be great :)

And definitely more smaller watches would really help in the women's watch department - we don't all have large wrists!

well, i know it's mostly been said now, and i think i read (?) that CWL are likely going to do away with the women's range anyway. but i'm really interested in this so i hope you don't mind my blurb.

as a disclaimer, i am nOT a girly girl! i don't do bling. or pink... and i have skinny wrists but quite big hands, so can carry off slightly larger watches (i think my C11 looks just great on!)

my basic feeling is that people get a bit lost with the need to define what's a mans and what's a woman's watch. why do watch companies on line steer sizeable chinks of their clientelle away from certain watches by claiming that they're 'men's' watches? i'm with many here who have said 'do unisex' - though i wouldn't even feel the need to define unisex. just make quality watches in various sizes and designs - let me decide whether the watch is for me or not. my favourite watch in the CWL collection is the C20 lido. it's just beautiful. would i wear it? it's close, but for me probably not - just (slightly) too much of a 'man's' watch. but it's a close thing. i draw my lines in certain ways, but no-one needs to be told what they can or can't choose from.

(this all has to go along with my other thoughts on 'women's watches' - CWL is not the high street. get rid of the blingiest end of the range where i don't think there's any benefit to be had in chosing CWL over high street. and i'm right with asqwerth - i don't need diamonds!)

do women prefer quartz movements? i guess high street sales have probably demonstrated this. but again - CWL isn't the high street. i'm getting to nitty gritty and gender politics here ( ) but i don't see a distinction between men 'who want timeless pieces', and women 'who want fashion items' - i love the watch conversations on here - largely among men - but you discuss colour, style, brand, watch straps keenly - and you change your watches every day, and your collections with the seasons! i think we're all in the same boat is what i'm saying! again - CWL isn't the high street - i'm here because i wanted a high quality timeless watch. i don't need CWL to give me what i can get on the high street, and there are women's watches in there that i think cheapen the brand. but again - i draw my lines differently to everyone else and that's just fine in the world.

i think there's a problem with figuring out what women want (i can hear a hundred men wanting to rush in to agree with me  ) - but the thing is i'm just not sure who's asking the question. i saw a breitling advert for women's watches that said 'Designed for women wishing to combine ultra-sporty character with elegance'........well which women are saying that they want to do this with a watch? i used to be sporty, so i wanted a sporty watch. making a sporty watch and sticking diamonds on it doesn't make it appeal to me because i'm a woman......men have watches for dress, sport, driving, business - and yet they claim that it's women who are more fickle when it comes to watches. let me choose an ultra-sporty watch, and an elegant watch to suit me. again - build quality watches in different sizes, then let everyone decide what they want to wear.

it's spring time, and my head's buzzing. it's turned into a blurb  sorry for waffling on....

If this forum teaches anything it is that both women AND men are a tad hard to decipher in terms of what they want! I did however think that diamonds were a girl's best friend

Another great post from missF. I think I agree with everything our lady members seem to be posting. Basically, make and sell great watches in a range of styles and sizes. Don't pigeon hole them into being 'for' any particular person. Just make a diverse range, and let the customers pick what to buy.

I do believe that as we go forward, you will see less definition of what is a mens or womans watch.

Well, as the father of 4 girls aged 18 to 23... 3 of them own 6 CW watches between them. 4 of the 6 watches are smaller men's watches: 3 C5s and one C3. The other two are women's watches. One is a W11 Amelia, a smaller version of the men's C11 MSL, the other is a Constance Deco - a relatively large watch by women's standards (at least in the CW range) and the only watch we have with no men's equivalent.

In addition to the CW's, one of the girls also owns a men's Seiko kinetic and a smaller 1970's Omega men's watch, while another of the girls has a 34mm 1960's manual wind Certina men's watch.

My 4th daughter wears a 38mm men's Tissot.

My wife has a number of watches, every single one of them are smaller mens watches, including a 38mm C5a automatic and a 36mm Omega Aqua Terra plus some Seikos and Fossils.

I would not presume to advise on the viability of the future of the women's watch range, but of this snapshot of over a dozen watches, all but two are men's watches. Says something I guess.

I will say, that if were buying them a watch (and I have!), I'd be looking at a unisex or smaller sized men's watch, as none of the 5 women in my househould like "girlie" watches (their words, not mine!!!). :D

I should add that only one of my daughter's would consider wearing a small (sub 30mm) "women's" watch. But given the choice she went for a small men's watch.

Personally, I really find little to recommend the very small (sub 20mm) women's watches for looks usability and ... well everything I guess. But that me, don't shoot me for voicing an opinion
