Return from the US - smooth sailing (so far)

Post by mikewastaken »

Just wanted to share my recent experience returning a watch from the States, and happy to report that so far it's been just about as straightforward as any domestic return.

After determining the Dagger Sealander was not a keeper, I submitted my return request through the CW website and within 36 hours I received a followup via email asking my reason for the return. Following that, within about another 24 hours customer service completed the DHL paperwork (3 PDF documents including label, and another sheet of instructions) and sent them over to me. Slapped the label on the box, put the customs declaration inside and printed another to give the DHL staff. In my case I went to a DHL location to drop off; you can also schedule a pickup. At the DHL facility the service rep knew exactly what to do, I gave him my email address and got a confirmation of receipt via email. The watch is now headed back home and assuming the rest of the process is as seamless I will consider it a succesful and positive experience. But for anyone in the US curious or apprehensive about international return, know CW does the grunt work on return shipping. Will keep the group posted on how the refund part of the process goes.

It's nice to read everything is working out well so far.

I'm returning my Sealander GMT for a service because it's not winding and holding power from normal wear.

I submitted a return request on the website and filled out the information requested. Next I went to enter my order number and email only to receive order number not found. I had to fill out another form. I scheduled an at home pickup today because I had a watch strap set to be delivered.

Well I'm in the middle of a snow storm and the strap is on hold two hours away.

In any event I was sent a return form PDF to include in the box and another PDF with a waybill to hand to the driver, the label and (for some reason) three custom forms with directions to attach one to the box.

I'm reading advice not to seal the box until DHL inspects. But I've also not received any other followup from CW. Nothing from DHL saying they have the request for pickup. It's been total radio silence.

The whole process is pretty convoluted at the moment.
