removing links
removing links
Hi guys do the pins need to come out from left to right or right to left or dosnt it matter as im having trouble trying to push the pins out on my c60 trident to remove a couple of links
Re: removing links
I recently removed a link on my new C7. There is no direction. The best way I can describe the link pin bar is a solid bar with a groove around its circumference at the mid point. This fits into a cylinder which fit inside the centre link which also has a groove around its centre point. The cylinder fits inside the centre link and the link pin bar fits inside it. When the two grooves align the link pin bar clicks into place locking the links in place. I found removing, and replacing, the link pin bar a very tight fit but using a pliers did the job, but be careful not to scratch the exterior of the link pin. When putting the pin back after removing the links make sure it's fully back in place. I used a pin removal tool from eBay, about £4. Good luck.

Re: removing links
^^^ Excellent description of the CW bracelet link.
I have found the easiest way is to use a tool with a long pin...
The tool reaches through the centre link and pushes the pin through the crimped part. Works very well on Omega too!
About £10 from Cousins

Re: removing links
Nice one thanks I will try that tool as I did try something similar that came with a watch tool kit but very cheaply made as I could tell when it bent up the first time I used it

Re: removing links
Have had more success with a nylon headed hammer and pin punch.

Re: removing links
I use a jeweller's hammer (plastic end), a punch pin, and a bracelet holder:

Re: removing links
The usual problem removing links is using a pin that is to large to go inside the collar. A .60 pin punch is required. Also make certain that the hole for the pin exit is aligned with a hole in the holder.

Re: removing links
Can you recccomend a good quality watch tool kit, as the one I have is a very cheaply made and pretty useless now I've come to use it.

Re: removing links
I favor this type....
You can get this and extra pins from supply houses such as Cousins. You do not need the expensive model. The generic works just as well.
