Oh it's better than that, Lindsey
I learnt something about what theses brands are about, what they are like in the metal. You've conveyed that.

And yeah, the Moonglow looks pretty spesh. Bit bigger than I'd prefer, but.... definitely looking forward to see what they've done with the new one.

Some great write ups there. Thanks for taking the time!

Take aways for me from your picutres:
  • That pink Farer  The colour... yes please. (Shame it's a GMT). I don't like the way that the chrono dials obscure the numerals though.
  • I appreciate what AnOrdain are doing, but I wouldn't want to spaff over £3k on one. The model 3 isdisappointingly underwhelming; I was certain that those new dials would be amazing, but after seeing it on screen with a real-world photo rather than the press pictures, I could take it or leave it.
  • Isotope are a brand I've never really heard of, but after a squizz at their website, the Hydrium California is lovely.
  • The Accutrons are pretty; I'll be doing a lot of reading about those now, so thankyou for that introduction!
  • Completely agree with the purple Bel Canto. It looks like the dial would be bursting with character in even a dark room. The only thing I'd change would be the colour of the hands. Other than that, it's tip top!

Thanks for the great report and pics! While most of these aren't in my wheelhouse, I can appreciate what they are trying to do. Having a sense of focus at big events like that is definitely a plus

missF wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:45 am So! An Ordain for breakfast then. Definitely my top ‘so what’s this all about?’ brand of the day. The guy I chatted with was really nice. Looked exhausted. Either from partying hard the previous night or because he told me that they have committed themselves to taking their watches everywhere they can, as often as they can, worldwide, because seeing the watches in the flesh is the only way that people can judge the dials and what they look like.

The hard, shiny enamel is not particularly a look I like in watches, but they are - regardless of personal opinion - beautiful watches. The model one is more delicate in looks than the model two. I prefer the model two which could carry itself off as a field watch, then take you to dinner in the evening.

Model three - well if strong dial texture is your thing then this is glorious. Impossible to describe how it catches the light and catches your eye. If there was one of these in a boardroom meeting I’d be so entranced I’d probably miss my cue to speak. And I wouldn’t have been listening to the meeting anyway!

But not for me the model three. I fell in love. Head over heels. And couldn’t even get a decent picture of it! The model two in flax colour. Made my eyes smile. I’m besotted with how lovely it is.

Those dial textures must be a 'thing' right now, as Straum also have a similar dial design.

Thanks so much for all the interesting photos and observations. My only observation is, give the ti a chance. I was in the same camp as you for a long time. Feels cheap on the wrist, I like a bit more heft. After owning one, my mind adjusts to that particular watch just wearing a bit easier and really enjoying the change.

missF wrote:Finally - the updated wish list:

1. Moonglow
2. Mulberry Sealander on consort
3. Model two an Ordain in flax
4. Isotope hydrium California
5. Formex essence leggera 41 in grey
6. Bel canto purple on purple

Ah well - I’ll keep dreaming  :D
So after handling the deep red Farer and red Sealander, you’re preferring the Sealander?

Definitely. The dial on the Farer is nice, but the dial and the case and the bracelet on the Sealander are really nice. Mulberry was a real surprise for me when I saw it in real life

Thank you @missF for the pics and report, time consuming to do and I really enjoyed reading it.

I liked the look of the Isotope watch and have looked them up. I like the boss of Fears and his actions to stop his staff being made redundant during Covid (taking a night shift shelf stacking job to keep money coming in) but find I don't actually like Fears watches. Pity.

I need to look at Farer again, especially the Aquamatics being potential summer watches.

I picked up an Aquamatic last week (the Freshwater version). I really love it. Quality is great. Dial is lovely. Great size. Three varied straps included too. Would recommend.
