Re: RedBar Global event
I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on Formex, Lindsey. Apparently the build quality is great, with the bracelets being regarded as truly superb.

Re: RedBar Global event
I didn’t spend much time at Formex. I was keen to see the white 39mm (@ajax87 ), but I didn’t check out the bracelet To be honest, if people who are wearing the watch are telling you that the bracelet is fantastic then that’s a far better endorsement than I could give you after poking around for two minutes while blethering at the same time
The watch itself? I’d prefer it without the ‘hand polished bevels’ - but then I’ll never be wearing it with a business suit Build quality is good and it fits the wrist because the caseback and lugs look a bit like they’ve been shaved to fit a wrist rather than finished to look beefy and luxurious. I think I’m saying it looks a bit unfiniIshed when you turn it over. The watch isn’t as beefy and luxurious as I thought it would be but it still manages to look pretty good on my 16.5cm wrist
I said somewhere above that I don’t like titanium cases. Watches that are silvery should have an appropriate heft to satisfy my brain. Titanium confuses my brain into thinking I’m wearing a cheapy toy watch. I obviously am not managing to get over that glitch at this time. But the Formex guy randomly handed me this, and I love it. I love how light it is! Carbon Fibre Composite. The model is the Leggere, and for me I’d have this one over the white 39

Let’s do Isotope! I’ve kept half an eye on Isotope because I like their slightly-different-ness and the fact that they have a strong design language in spite of the fact that their watches range in style and category.
I’m delighted to say that their hydrium divers are even better irl - beautifully designed and fit me really well. The California dial would be my choice. Colours, fit, finish, great textured dial, retro suede strap. Top drawer independent watch. Top of my want list.
@DavidCM - sorry I didn’t get a pic of the moonshot on the bracelet- I was handed the watch on the strap by someone standing next to me so I didn’t chase the bracelet version. It’s an amazing watch - gorgeous design details, gorgeous colours. And I’m not fussed at all by chronographs. Oh And the owner / designer added a pulsations scale as well as a tachymeter (sp?) because his wife is doing her surgical training

Right - I think that’s me for this evening! Tomorrow I’ll do CW, an Ordain, Accutron and Fears, and that should be me!

Those are some cracking pics and write-ups there Lindsey, thanks a lot for sharing them with us all. Looks like you had a good time!
My favourite of those has to be the Essence Leggera - it looks superb.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions about Farer Lindsey. I look forward to reading your reports on the other brands tomorrow.

Re: RedBar Global event - pics and waffle
Thanks for sharing your Formex pics and opinion! I hadn’t given the Leggera model any thought until now, but I’m intrigued. I’m a big fan of lightweight and this would be a nice change from my 2 titanium watches. Hmmm…

Re: RedBar Global event - pics and waffle
So! An Ordain for breakfast then. Definitely my top ‘so what’s this all about?’ brand of the day. The guy I chatted with was really nice. Looked exhausted. Either from partying hard the previous night or because he told me that they have committed themselves to taking their watches everywhere they can, as often as they can, worldwide, because seeing the watches in the flesh is the only way that people can judge the dials and what they look like.
The hard, shiny enamel is not particularly a look I like in watches, but they are - regardless of personal opinion - beautiful watches. The model one is more delicate in looks than the model two. I prefer the model two which could carry itself off as a field watch, then take you to dinner in the evening.
Model three - well if strong dial texture is your thing then this is glorious. Impossible to describe how it catches the light and catches your eye. If there was one of these in a boardroom meeting I’d be so entranced I’d probably miss my cue to speak. And I wouldn’t have been listening to the meeting anyway!
But not for me the model three. I fell in love. Head over heels. And couldn’t even get a decent picture of it! The model two in flax colour. Made my eyes smile. I’m besotted with how lovely it is.

Re: RedBar Global event - pics and waffle
. What a headwhiz This watch is crazy. I just commend you to read about the proprietary electrostatic movement. Twin turbines creating electricity powered by the movement of your wrist, and a very sophisticated means of power storage and power saving. Two year PR. Leave it in the box for ten years and it’ll power up instantly to the time you left it at. This movement was ten years in the making after Citizen bought over Accutron and Bulova in 2011. This is how to revive a company!
I don’t much like the looks of the watch but would still wear it as a one watch, it’s that extraordinary

Re: RedBar Global event - pics and waffle
Quick mention of Fears. I didn’t stop for long, and perhaps that’s why I didn’t feel the spirits in these watches. Unfortunately for me the 40mm version that I was interested in wore a bit big on my wrist for such a dressy watch. Undoubtedly classy though. Somehow the ‘red’ (it was kind of dark red) second hand on the white dial drew my eye because it was of such considered high quality. So there you go. My recommendation would be to buy a Fears watch for the gorgeous second hand!

Great reportage Lindsey. Hope you had a fun day and didn’t feel weighed down with requests/homework.
I really like the series 3 An Ordain, the blue dial reminds me of white horses blown over the surface of the ocean. I think I really like the trench watch lugs which surprises me. As for the Citizen, it looks and behaves like a mini nuclear reactor for the wrist - incredible. I love the motto on the warranty card? ‘It’s not a timepiece it’s a conversation piece.’ Well that it most certainly is.

The homework actually kept me focussed which was great. Without that I think I’d have spun round the room numerous times without taking anything much on board apart from the sparkly excitedness of it all
