Questions about the ETA 2824-2

Post by Miguel Toro-Alvarez »

Hello,

I have two questions:

1.- I have read about different grades of the ETA 2824-2: What are those grades and in what are they different?

2.- Base on the CWL catalog the C5 Malvern uses a 2824-2 and the C5 Aviator a modified 2824-2 made in collaboration with ETA. What is the differences between them?

Thanks in advance,

Miguel

1. ETA-movements are often available in 5 different grades: Economique, Standard, Elabore, Top, Chronometre. For more information:

2. Originally the C5 Malvern was only available with the lowest grade 2824-2, and the Aviator had a higher grade 2824-2 with CW-engravings. But I believe this is going to change and in the future the C5 Malverns will have the same higher grade 2824-2 as the Aviator.

Any idea when? Because I'll probably wait if that's the case...

My C5SKK, purchased in December 07, has the Aviator movement, not the standard gold-styled one. Didn't ask for it, but am pleased.

I think CW already started delivering C5 with higher grade movement, but if you want to make sure, it's best to ask CW directly.

FYI...I am pretty sure that I read that the grade used in the original Aviators was Elabore.
