I've noticed these days that there are SH21 hand-wound movements that have 27 jewels, and others that have 31 jewels.
· C1 Morgan 3 Wheeler Chronometer : 27 jewel hand-wound Calibre SH21
· C1 Morgan Aero 8 Chronometer : 31 jewel hand-wound Calibre SH21
Why is that and what exactly is the difference?
Question to the experts: SH21 movement - 27 or 31 jewels?

Here’s a link to all the SH 21 movements on the CW Archive.
I think the 31 jewel is one with a power reserve indicator.

The explanation sounds logical - thanks!Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:37 pm Here’s a link to all the SH 21 movements on the CW Archive.

Might be the automatic ones have more jewels too... for the ones I have:Amor Vincit Omnia wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:37 pm Here’s a link to all the SH 21 movements on the CW Archive.
I think the 31 jewel is one with a power reserve indicator.
- C60 Concept - 31 jewels - Automatic, no Power Reserve
- C1 Grand Malvern 5 Day Automatic - 31 jewels - Automatic, no Power Reserve
- C65 Trident Diver SH21 LE - 33 jewels - Automatic and Power Reserve
- C65 Trident Diver Bronze SH21 LE - 27 jewels - Manual, no Power Reserve
- C1 PowerGlow - Jewels not specified (it is a prototype though!) - Automatic, Power Reserve
So it seems the extra jewels are required for both the Power Reserve and the Automatic Rotor... although it's not 100% clear, as the C8PR I used to own, is shown as only 27 jewels, but does indeed have a Power Reserve, although Manual and some listed have as many as 35 jewels

Cheers, Gary
