I don't have proper OCD so don't know how hard it is or how it really works, but if CW say it's not dodgy and the watch works perfectly once set this sounds like something you could learn to live with in an attempt to overcome the OCD?

It's a great looking watch but it has quirks, could the same not be said of your wife? You didn't sell her

Also bear in mind that, if you disclose all this when selling (which IMHO you should) you might not be able to get much for it. Plus you may be setting yourself up for hassle with buyers who haven't quite appreciated the problem from a description.

If it were me, for those two reasons alone, I would keep it - life's too short for the extra hassle!

Maybe. But I am divorced. And that cleaned me out financially 8 years ago and still does every month and so every watch is a real treat!! That's part of the reason why I have high expectations.

Good advice thanks very much. I agree. You are a long time dead. I'm beaten and it will be less stressful to give up.

Sorry to hear that, I nearly deleted that bit but decided it would be OK

It's fine don't worry at all! If I had been annoyed I'd have said nothing. No offence caused whatsoever. Thanks!

I have 8 watches and only 3 do exactly what you'd hope, when winding and setting the dates. ie:nice crisp positional engaging of the crown and smooth winding. The other 5 have varying degrees of difficulty, such as slipping, not engaging, wobbly or stiff winding. Sometimes I can't repeat the "fault" and then it does it out of the blue. I used to worry but now I just work around each issue carefully and accept that there are variances in these things. Incidently, one of my C60's is excellent and the other is awful! The awful one is only awful 50% of the time though. Work that out! I just assumed that these differences were the norm because it ranges over differing quality/price ranges.

Glenn I reckon find another of the sale preowned and buy it (may take some time, but you will get there in the end).

Then sell the one that doesn't operate as you would like, linking in the sales post to this thread. Given that senior folk at CW have checked out the watch and opined that it is ok, this should not deter potential purchasers from buying your watch.

Thanks everyone for being so understanding and for all the helpful advice. The forum is great and I really appreciate all your help. It's easy to get bogged down with these things. I also appreciate others sharing the nuances of their watches which means that they don't always behave in a repeatable way and that doesn't put people off.

I've got a lot to learn, and have learned a lot from this forum already. Thanks everyone.

Best

On this subject. who has had any good experience with ORIS? Twice the price of CW for the same sort of watch., but if they are more reliable it would be worth it. I tried on the divers 65 the other day - the one with the nubuck brown strap - very nice, lovely bezel movement, wears very thin. £1270 best price I could get down from £1410. Main drawback is the lugs are 21mm so not easy to get other straps! Any ORIS fans???

I really like my Oris Artix Pointer Moon. I bought it new (grey market) and on sale a month ago and have worn it daily since. Keeps COSC-like time and looks great. I've posted a picture of it today in the "Non CW of the Day" thread. Cheers.

Hi. Worth an update. The C11 Elite (only having got it back) was gaining time. Not too bad. About 8 s/day. But it is supposed to be COSC. So sent it back - yet again - for a regulation. I note that on the work done, the sliding pinion was replaced as part of the regulation. I have received it back again. It is keeping excellent time, and the date wheel problem appears to have disappeared. Have never come across a watch with so many issues. Let's hope it is all sorted this time.

I absolutely love my Oris and keeps great time.
It’s quite big but actually looks great on my small wrists.
