Preview Sale now live
Re: Preview Sale now live
Apologies if its been noted before but why is the C10 FLE seemingly so unpopular? It's well priced in the sale, limited to 100 pieces, big modern size, but is still in stock today.
Any thoughts?

I guess it goes to show that a democratic design process doesn't always give people what they want.

To me it's one of those designs that's just neither here nor there. I don't dislike it as such, but it's kind of middling. I guess many others must feel the same way.Red wrote:Apologies if its been noted before but why is the C10 FLE seemingly so unpopular? Still it's surprising they seem to be so difficult to shift as there are plenty of folk on here that love theirs!
I've almost be tempted to try it a couple of times due to the above, thinking maybe I'm missing something that you only appreciate when you see one in the metal. Not confident enough about that though and I do try not to buy watches I'll more than likely return.
Not sure as of now but there were 13 still available when I looked earlier, so they must have sold 87 in total since they released(including those from the sale), certainly not a good seller.

Re: Preview Sale now live
I think the photos of the FLE don't do it justice; I bought it just because I had been so interested in the process - I didn't actually think that much of it.
Now that I have it I couldn't imagine not having it... it is just great

Can I please ask a stupid newbie question....
What does FLE stand for? I am looking at the C10 aviator, but cannot see any mention of FLE in the description.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Preview Sale now live
I didn't buy one but have always thought it to be an excellent watch.
There was not a great deal of love early on for the 2009 FLE and look how sought after that is.
I also think that the FLEC deserve much credit for their time and effort. They fashioned the watch within the brief given to them by the Membership. That should not be forgotten.

Well, I have to say that I have gone for it and put the order in - ETA tomorrow. It just seems too good to miss. Certainly I have no intention of returning the watch if i don't like it (whilst a nice option to have, just not cricket in my mind) - so we'll see what it looks like when it arrives. If I can work it out how, I'll post some pics up against some others and you can see what you think.
Picking up Scooter's point above I think the effort and energy put in by all the contributors is fantastic and CW have to be congratulated for allowing this to continue.

Re: Preview Sale now live
I hesitated for a long time during the waiting process but eventually dived in and bought it on release. I'm glad I did. While it's the largest watch I own, the design and comfort of the watch is very good in my opinion. I will be hanging on to mine. I think in years to come it will gain much more appreciation and I'm grateful for the design team for all the work they put into the project despite all the frustrations and difficulties bringing it to the market.

In the future who knows, look at the old yellow dial C600 that was sold off at less than £200 back in the day, if it was available at £400 now they'd fly!scooter wrote:I didn't buy one but have always thought it to be an excellent watch.

FLEC.... Forum Limited Edition Collective?
I think the size is one of the things that put me off it, with that design a smaller case would have been far more desirable for me(speaking of which, that same dial design and hands in a C5 slimline case )

Same here. I was out as soon as the totally predictable case poll went through, and I was on the FLEC!Tetlee wrote: I think the size is one of the things that put me off it, with that design a smaller case would have been far more desirable for me(speaking of which, that same dial design and hands in a C5 slimline case )

While the 2013 FLE used the C10 case the C10 AViator is a different watch. Here is the link

Re: Preview Sale now live
Like many things in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc ...
I recently ordered a C10 FLE, feeling I would be delighted with owning a limited edition Swiss watch, and for such a good price ...yet on opening up the box there was unfortunately just no 'wow factor' and right away I just knew it wouldn't grow on me, despite hoping it would. For me, personally, it wears too big and I would have expected an exhibition caseback, which I overlooked in my research. It's a very nice watch, just not for me.
Speaking of 'wow factor' .. I felt this on seeing the first pic release of the C65 and, to an extent, the C5 Slimline ...so hope to place an order for one of these, once more images are released soon, hopefully.
The C10 FLE will certainly please some and I can understand why (it's certainly not a bad watch)..but I just can't put a finger on why it's not a keeper, for me at least.

Re: Preview Sale now live
As an owner of a C10 FLE, I can understand your letdown to some degree, as I had a little bit if that on opening the box. By and large (for me) it was the strap combination that did nothing for the watch, or more specifically the all black strap, even down to the black stitching. It just looked... flat.
After much searching of C10 photos I ordered a couple of Hirsch straps, both in navy blue, one a fitted end croc with cream stitching, the other a twin roll with white stitching. The latter is the one that makes it shine! Even though it's the same twin roll style as the original, the colour difference really makes it come alive.

but here's one photo from that thread anyway...
Kip also posted a photo in that thread of his C10 FLE on a brown croc strap, which also looks great.
Give it a go
