Pre-launch Revival Model Exclusive

Post by Kip »

On January 5th, Christopher Ward will be launching 2 new Special Editions for sale. CW has offered the forum an exclusive 24hr period to purchase them.

These 2 SE’s are based on prior models. One is the C5 Malvern Revival that is based on the original C5 Malvern Automatic that went live with CW on June 6, 2005. The second model is the C8 Pilot Revival that is based on the model released in June 2010.

The original C5 and C8 MKII may be reviewed in the CWArchive.

The new 250-piece Limited Edition C5 Malvern “Revival” has an upgraded C1 Grand Malvern 40.5mm case that uses a 20mm strap. The dial is similar to the original with the date now moved to 6. You will note that the original CW logo has been utilized. The case back is a display type that shows the current twin flags on the rotor.

The C8 Pilot “Revival” is also a 250-piece Limited Edition (200 Steel / 50 Black DLC) based on the C8 Pilot MKII model released in June of 2010. This model overlapped the logo change in 2012 so CW chose to use the V2B logo that was used for most of its lifespan. The case is a 44 mm updated C8 case using a display backplate that shows the current twin flags on the rotor. The dial is a no date design.

Christopher Ward is offering these 2 new revival models to the CW forum exclusively for 24 hours prior to launch. This allows us to have the first opportunity to buy before the general public as they are not expected to remain in stock for long.

Dang.

I've only just bought a no-date Aviator / Flieger, but at least that's 42mm vs the C8 Revival at 44mm. :-k :-k

I've got a feeling I'll be sending Kip a PM.

For those who may be newer members of the Forum, and not remember the original or V2B versions of the Logo, details of the Logo Evolution may be found in the CWArchive.

Wow, really cool. Not for me, but pretty neat and good on CW for giving the forum first dibs.

What kind of model would that be? Even if I couldn't get it, I'd really like to have a look.

Thanks mate! The prototypes were classic. I believe CW will inject some new design elements into them.

I'm sure that with a quick email to Mike France he could arrange a one-off with the date at 6am for you!

I'm excited to see the C5 Revival. For me the C5 really exemplifies the early CW design language with the stepped dial and round date window.

It's hard to pick a perfect time, but that works as well any time for both USA Pacific and Australia, I would think.
