I have no experience of Salesforce.com which I believe is the platform CW uses, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't have the option to list a product at a time/date in the future. A bit more planning and testing on the IT front from the CW website team wouldn't do any harm.

Mods at the mercy of CW, with the team at the mercy of the sandwich van.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

I'd be all over the C8 Pilot if it was available in a 40-41mm case size.. :problem:

Normal CW marketing email about these models just received.

They are now live on CW site, without a password required.

Buy now while stocks last!

And I will be completely pi**ed off if any are shipped in priority to CW getting their act together and shipping me a watch that they had previously agreed would be dispatched to me on 30 December! :silent:

Received the official CW email notification and they all appear to be available so all is good.

Not sure why things get posted on other sites when the info clearly comes from here and should have remained only on here. I notice some threads are active when logged in but unavaible when not. Maybe that could help although it would be exploited regardless.

The more people try to be clever/enterprising and not just stick to the plan will mean it more likely that these type of well intended initiatives will not happen in the future and are just not worth the hassle.

Prefer the C8 overall but would like it to be in case size of the C5. Always the situation that I want the cross between two models!

I think the biggest problem was unrealistic expectations.

1) The expectation that there wouldn’t be a problem with the password protected page. Anyone remember the same thing happening with the prototype sale? IIRC, the C1 Powerglow was public.

2) The expectation that when the problem did arise, that the internet would be a gentleman and leave it alone. That is not the internet’s MO

And anyone who thinks “this is the forum, not the internet!” Well, we’re collectively a sampling of the general populace, with a wide range of personality types.

Good to remember too that many forumites are also members of the Facebook groups.

Please don’t take any of this too seriously. It’s just watches. This doesn’t reflect what I think should have happened or not, either. The forum still got its exclusive preview, and I’m still thankful for CW for providing that opportunity!

ON TOPIC:

The C5 revival looks AMAZING in that lightcatcher case! Good for anyone who is able to pick one up. Hoping to see live pics on here soon.

Just a general thanks to the Admin team for all the thankless work you do. Anyone who wanted to get a look at the watches offered should have requested the password. There was never any implied obligation to purchase just by receiving the password.

Obviously it was a bit of a bodge given it didn't go as planned, but ultimately the watches were released, people had (and still have) the chance to buy them. Don't really see the problem.

Top notch, Fergus.

Is that to pair up with the MkI quartz you bought from me?

Yes indeed thanks to the admins again for their hard work in making this kind of promotion available, it is appreciated

With regard in particular to my sharing of information found on another group (in this case CWE). My concern was that the leak that had occurred would somehow jeopardise the exclusive early access to these models that this forum was being granted. I therefore indicated that the leak had occurred, as information to this forum... but didn't share the leaked link itself, as that of course wouldn't be right!

I apologise if the sharing of that information has offended anyone, and am glad that it seems all have been able to access the models they wanted :D

Oh and if it's ok to share this additional piece of information... it now seems that CW have added the option of black canvas webbing strap for the two C8 variants... this most certainly wasn't the case initially, as I have a screenshot from yesterday to prove it (which I'm not sharing... ever )

Overall very impressed with both design. I think the C5 update is an absolute stunner. Proof that the original CWL designs have held up over the past 16 years. I won't be buying one as I simply don't have much opportunity to wear dress watches (and a 40mm is just too big for a dress watch for me), but if I was in the market for a dressy 40mm 3 hander the C5 would be on its way to me.

Not very impressed with those that felt it necessary to leak the unsecure page with the Facebook groups. That was in poor taste, but not at all unexpected considering the general lack of morals on the internet.
Kip wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 1:59 pm Those that were offended for the removal of photos who did not request the link or password have no ground to stand on in my opinion.
Since this was directed at me, I'll address it. I was in agreement with Kip, up until the mods posted that they should not have taken down the pictures that were posted. At that point the photos were fair game, and should have been restored. At the end of the day, was I out anything by not seeing them until I received the email this morning? No. Of course not. And if the link had not have been leaked, with the subsequent posted-then-removed pictures, I wouldn't have cared. My response was mostly just a sour grapes reaction that the pictures were deemed ok for posting on the forum, but were still not being restored. I realize and appreciate that the mods were doing the best they could on the fly. If a few bad actors had kept their proverbial mouths shut after snooping around, none of this would have ever transpired.

Thanks to CW, Kip, and the mod team for making this opportunity happen, even though it didn't quite go as planned.

Ooooh like the C5 with the Milanese Mesh, my favourite type of strap. What surprises me is the comments that the C8 is large. I have one in the black, second body as I scratch them and it’s happened again, but never noticed the size. When I got the Concept it seemed diddy to my Bronze but well happy. What I am getting at i:
1; never thought my wrists were big
2; how can I ask the wife to allow me another? 😆😂

The watches look great, but again the copy on the web site is horrible!
The first and much-loved ‘big-C’ logo
I've never heard the original CW logo described as the "big C". In fact, that's a phrase I've only ever heard in relation to a rather horrible disease... do they even think these things through? I think John Wayne got to the phrase before CW!

I must say I really like the three revival models, C5, C8 SS and the C8 DLC.
I'd happily have any of them in my collection.

Sadly as is usual for me the timing is bad so I won't be getting any.
Out of the bunch, I'd probably go for the C5 as it just looks simply superb in the new larger C1 case and that dial......Wow !

You're correct about the C8 straps, Gary, that's about what I saw.

Initial selection was Black Vintage Oak and Black Tropic rubber. By the time I looked to see and decide what to buy later yesterday evening, the Black Canvass had been added.

I've got mine, the DLC version, coming on the Black Vintage Oak, but with the Black Canvass as well.

Also did you, or anyone else for that matter, notice that all the C5 straps, which are only Vintage Oak, not Cordovan, come with Bader deployants (not dress clasps). A neat touch. I've got a couple of those coming too.
