Power Reserve on C5 Malvern

Post by jkalla »

Hi,

I'm a newbee to automatic watches and am really enjoying my first CWL a gold C5 MKI. I wear it most of the time, but ther have been a few days when I didn't and it seems that about 24 hours after I stopped wearing it, it stopped.

Is that normal? What about the 38 hour power reserve? Does it need to be wound and worn?

Thanks for your help.

Of my 3 autos the C5 is the hardest to power up on the wrist, but I tend only to wear most of my watches for a couple of days then let them stop, so it doesn't bother me unduly.
Much depends on what you do while wearing it - a lot of walking and moving around is more effective than sitting still.

The level of power reserve is completely dependent on your level of activity - i.e. how much you turn the watch rotor through physical movement of your arm.

I think 24 hours is not untypical for those of us with sedentary lifestyles or office jobs.

^Exactly.

30 minutes swimming every day (and an hour's wear each side of that) has kept my Orient diver going for a month!

Thanks for all the input!

I guess I'll just need to keep wearing it.

Exercise is out!!
