Following the old tradition (C2/C20, C6/C60) a mechanical C1 should be a C10 but that slot is now taken. Mind you they broke that with the C7/C70 and had to go to C700.

The fact that the new SH21 movement has the ability to do small seconds without any need for complications and that it can fit a 40mm case would make it a good choice especially as making it hand wound would slim it down. Just don't expect me to buy one.

It's a good candidate for a FLE... relatively easy to achieve and relatively low cost. Not sure how many takers there would be though....

I would hazard a guess at less than last years, based on nothing other than the fact we all seem unable to agree on any FLE.

I think the FLE boat has sailed, unless one of, or a group of us, approach CW with a private commission. :problem:

Interesting point that, Ian. When I heard that the C10 was coming out, I assumed that it would be a mechanical version of the C1 based on the previous progressions you refer to. Imagine my disappointment...

I wouldn't expect you to buy one, though I do wonder whether such a watch would merely be satisfying the whims of a few reactionary souls like myself on the forum? Perhaps the directors of the company might be consider that this style has had its day/chips. It's a question worth thinking about. Delighted as I am to see the hand wound Slimline appearing, I am beginning to come round to the view that the modern idiom is perhaps the way forward. For a long time after joining the forum, all I really wanted CW to make was a watch very similar to the ones I was collecting. However, when I have been scathing about the pseudo-vintage styles with the Old Radium lume, I have made the point that if you want a watch that looks 50 years old, you should buy a 50 year old watch! And after all, I have several of those.

Don't get me wrong, if they were to make a mechanical version of the C1, I would be the first in line. I'm just throwing ideas out and thinking that perhaps I would understand the reasons why they might choose not to do that.

A stickler for details, Robin.

I assume (From the lack of comment) that everyone's ok with the traditional logo?

Alternatively, stick an equation of time module in the movement and use the centre seconds hand for solar minutes. Now that WOULD be something different!

What? Is there a different logo?

Looks pretty good to me, logo included. But maybe lose one of the second hands! :)

Or add a moonphase at 6 instead. ;)

As you are now aware, the SH21 may be seen in a 40mm case in the future. This may bode well for the C1 style to make a comeback. I won't deny that Chris and I had a bit of conversation over this. Time will tell..... [-o<
