Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
Given what Kip says, is there any reason why this couldn't be a FLE? Perhaps not this year, but next.
To me it would go back to what the essence of the first forum watches were about. I mean; take a popular quartz watch from the range, modify the look and add a mechanical movement. Ian has even already named it as 'Old Fogey'.

Trying not to buy any more watches...
Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
My specific plea is not to turn it into a 42 or 43mm monster. 38mm would be perfect. Having read Kip's research - thanks Kip - I realise there might have to be some compromise on that. Nevertheless, we old fogeys are still here and the whole point of recreating the C1 is for me a return to some traditional faces.

Thank you for doing the research, Kip. It is obviously a complex business that a layman like me does not always fully understand. It would be great if it came about, however.

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
I voted yes. Oddly enough the C1 is one of the few watches with Roman numerals and a seconds sub dial that I like. I notice that more and more I am looking to the "vintage" style and while i would prefer a 40mm for a new watch i would not balk at 38 providing the rest of the dimensions were right i.e. do not put it in the strangely proportioned C5 case! Kip, many thanks for your informative post. Quite apart from finding a movement to fit the case the price would be everything especially as I am becoming more aware of the price of some fabulous and beautiful older watches from top end makers such as Girard-Perregaux, JLC, Omega, older Longines, Eterna etc.
Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
In theory I would love a C1-esque handwound in not bigger than 38mm size, with a thin case. No auto.
However, there's something off about the dial of the C1 to me. I love the look and proportions of the Stowa Marine with Roman numerals:
though obviously not its size.
The C1 Roman numerals just seem too narrow and squashed. Subdial is too small and high up, IMO.
So if we keep the current C1 case but make the case back deeper to accommodate the ETA 7001 (Stowa Antea with this movement is 35mm, so 38mm is certainly do-able) movement, and modify the dial design to make it more like the Stowa Marine, I'm in!
No rush for me, though; if next year is a better time to consider this, that's fine.

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
It's a YES for me and I also think that it should be kept as close to the style/size of the original C1, which by the way I am so glad I have as part of my collection!

Not sure if this would work or if it can still be sourced or if it could be modified to a sub secs, but this could fit anything you wanted almost. J & T Windmills use this and its adjusted, so can be very accurate. And Hi-beat 28,800.

Yes for me; 36mm manual wind would be good.

I like the small seconds but not the Roman numerals.
It's a no from me.

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a mechanical C1 back?
Well, is there any chance the new 40mm w/ SH1 (upcoming, I think) being used to re-release the C1 as mechanical? Still at 40mm, same Roman numerals and hands etc just to be true to the original. That being said, if bringing it into a new incarnation would help, still keep it at 40mm and add a moonphase in the seconds dial. Still no date though.
I'm holding off on 10 yr anniv. in hopes of something like that coming along!
