Not sure how I've misunderstood.

1. Someone says certain combinations are hideous
2. You reply that owners of those watches may take offence at that

What am I missing?

Because someone's opinion of something you own and love but they do not may not affect you doesn't mean it cant affect someone else who may take that persons opinion to heart. we are not all the same and should not judge people by our own ways.

My original post said it was "perhaps a generalisation". If I comment further then I will be assuming the full meaning of the post I replied to. That would put me in the same position as you.
However, I wasn't referring to people taking offence for somebody not liking their watch. I do not personally own any of the watches in question, but I wouldn't care a monkeys if someone didn't like my purchase. Although I do respect the views of a certain few that we share the forum with.

IMO it looks even better when it's half price

And before anyone says - yes I know the date is wrong - just noticed it!!

Ok, I think I follow. Though my stance would still be the same as I can't comprehend why someone, anyone, might be offended by another's comments given everyone has such varied tastes.

I guess to clarify - The way I read the post I responded to, which may be totally wrong (and happy to be corrected), suggested that those that bought the "hideous" combinations were being "duped" in to buying something just because it was half price. That would offend me.

Someone not liking my watch, personally wouldn't. However, we aren't all the same and some might take offence to such a sweeping statement. They might not be someone's taste, but it doesn't make them wrong or ugly.

I personally think those C60s that were on clearance were the exact price they should be sold at. I think all the new Tridents are great, but the very best versions are the ones that were not put half-off. The white/red, white/green, white/blue, and black/blue aren't for me and the general audience agreed with their struggle to sell. But if you put them 50% off, well, that changes things. I think people got a very good deal on some high-quality discounted divers. It was pretty tough for myself to resist but in the end I'd rather pay more for the colors I prefer.

I wish I'd taken the opportunity at the time and bought a black/blue trident.
I'm coming to the conclusion that I like them every bit as much as the black/red that I have, perhaps even better... C'est la vie...

I only own the ceramic blue one but I imagine it's the same for the red and green in that the colour changes so much. I find that when it's sunny it's s much brighter blue (perfect holiday watch) and then when you go out for a nice meal with romantic lighting it changes completely to a dark sultry blue.

Makes two of us. If the size worked for me I'd have been all over it, possibly should have given it another go anyway as its a real looker.

As the saying goes: 'Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder'

I guess it was a win / win for me as I think the Blue / Black is the best combination, closely followed by the Blue / White (which I also have). Fortunately for me I have no problem if others don't share my preferences - I drive a 13 year old car out of choice because I love it, I listen to 40 year old Hi Fi equipment because I think it sounds better, I have never interacted with social media of any description (unless you include this forum!) because I think its vacuous...I could go on.

It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing....

Perhaps a bit of a generalisation that owners of those watches might take offence to.
I bought a White dial / Green bezel 38mm C60 during the sale and I don't think it is at all hideous.
