I think this is an interesting launch. Initially I just knew I wasn't going to like a square watch, but now I realise that I do like this 'squared off' watch, the softer corners make it really quite attractive to me. I am not keen on the sharp square looks of the Nomos pictured earlier in the thread.
The one design aspect of the slimlines that I really wish they would address are the cheap looking 'folded tin' hands and I think they really do need to be blue on the white faces. The normal C5 hands are a better shape for me.

A rectangular shape would have been a better/more classic route to go.

This is NOT for me but at least it's better than that fugly Nomos box they tried to pass off as a watch. I also would have preferred a longer rectangular shape but different horses for different courses so....

It looks pretty good on the mesh, especially the blue.

Steve, I did some calculations using the large sized image in Photoshop and the corner to corner measurement works out at 46mm (46.16 by my calculations, but close enough). 51mm (well 52mm to be pedantic ) would be the size for a perfect 37mm square.Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:The 40mm diameter is as far as I go. 51mm corner to corner is too big.

Ah, of course – the sides are slightly bowed. Good thinking.
I'm still not keen, and in any case I think my next watch will be rectangular and will begin with CAR, not CHR.

Re: Pics of new C5 Square Slimline
I'm a bit late to the party on this one.
I have no burning desire to buy another watch at the moment. I had hoped this would be something that truly leaped out at me but, to be honest, my initial response was very much "meh, whatever..."
I'm afraid that I'm rather underwhelmed by this one and I certainly don't have anything against square, tonneau or cushion-shaped cases. It just doesn't do anything particularly new or different.
Of all the variants, the nicest looking one at the moment is definitely the blue-faced version on the steel mesh -- and that's unusual too as I'm not generally a fan of mesh straps. It still doesn't speak to me enough to even begin to contemplate getting one though.
I feel like a bit of a party-pooper for saying so (!).
