That Rolex dial is just cracked, but the markers are lovely.

Most second hand watches I've bought over the internet, have been a disappointment. Not all.
Some photos don't catch everything and I like mine to be pristine.

I agree with the notion of it depending very much on the watch, and there's a point beyond which "provenance" becomes a used, filthy timepiece

I bought a pristine B & M 1965 Chronograph some years ago, and thinking that it needed a service, I popped it into a local Swiss Watch retailer, hoping they could recommend someone. They did, but thanks to their complete mismanagement of the repair work, and the shoddy nature of the work itself, I wore it for a week before the bezel became detached the original crystal cracked.

Several letters and phonecalls later, they agreed to cover the restoration cost of £2000, and I got the benefit (and thrill, to be frank!) of knowing that it had been fully rebuilt by the B & M master watchmaker.

I'm happy with a few little wear marks on the case/strap, but any big nicks or scratches and certainly any damage to the bezel or crystal is a big no no for me. You can always dress down a smart watch but you cant dress up a tatty one
