Orange or Black Lumiere?
Orange or Black Lumiere?
Hey there,
What's everyone's thoughts on the orange v black lumiere?
I like the black with the grey of the titanium vibe. However orange is my favourite colour!
Kind of conflicted. If you went through this process how did you decide?

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
Black/Grey works best to me. The Black Lumiere is more versatile and can be used in many more situations than the orange.

@TruePict
Welcome to the forum / asylum.
I chose the Black, which is really a shade of dark grey / charcoal, purely because its a colour I like and it's not 'shouty'; if that makes sense.
You'll find quite a few photos of the Lumière in our Reference Gallery; mostly of the black and orange as it happens to whet your appetite.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
@TruePict I'd say be sure why you're rejecting the blue version. I'm a bit sensitive to "orangeness" and some strengths of orange in typical UK ambient light are more of a turnoff than a turn on. I think it could work for me but I was happy with the blue, not that I'm short of blue divers. I've got the charcoal dial C60 so the black might have been a close duplication for me.
I think with time I'd try the orange before the black/grey.
Le us know which way you jump and we'll need to see photos, especially in the reference gallery.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I can’t be that helpful because my answer to the question is that I didn’t pick and bought both.
With that said, the answer is always ‘it depends’. The black is more reserved and versatile, the orange more ‘fun’. So it totally depends what you’re after.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I've had my eyes on the black mainly because it kinda looks grey. I don't care for divers but I do like that it's made of just blocks of lume. Plus with that sapphire lume bracelet on there, I'll never need a flashlight again.
The bezel rotates right? Has anyone accidentally rotated it while wearing the watch.

NB> Bezel only rotates to the left (not right), i.e. anticlockwise.

Lol well played. I did not mean right as in left right. I mean it as correct. But you've answer my question about accidental bezel rotation nonetheless.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:36 amDidn't happen whilst I was wearing mine; that is rotate accidentally.mhh8901 wrote: . . . . .

Thank you very much. Maybe the summer sale will have one of these.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
Well... it is YOUR watch.
Myself, I would go with the black dial, along with at least one bracelet and a couple of straps to get the color.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I'm contemplating the same decision at the moment.
I own an orange dial watch and very much like the color. It is a low end Seiko but it gets more comments than any other watch I own. I believe I paid about $250 CAD for that Seiko. But it is harder to color coordinate than a black dial, if that concerns you.
I also have a Sealander Elite on an orange/black strap as I also really like orange. Love the hints of orange on the dial.
I'll likely opt for the black/grey though if I get a Lumiere. I very much like the subdued aspect of the grey and I already own an orange dial.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I don’t have either watch but I had previously favoured the black/charcoal version (despite orange being my favourite colour). However, I recently came across some pictures of the orange dial which have really turned my head so despite previously discounting a Lumiere it’s now back on the radar as a potential option for an orange dial for my small collection.

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I find colour choices to be very personal and also collection-dependant. For example at some point I found myself having way too many black dial watches to the point where the collection looked very monochromatic and boring and all the black divers had so much overlap among them, whether wearing one or the other wouldn't make a huge difference. So I culled down the black face watches and expanded into other colours. That said, a black face watch is sooooo easy to match with anything, they are extremely versatile.
So yeah it takes some effort to not keep buying black watches. Also another factor that comes into play, for me at least, is that watches are expensive and when I buy one I want to be able to wear it often. If I get a funky colour that doesn't match 95% of my outfits and end up wearing it once a month or so then I feel like a wasted money - but that's just me hahaha!
Long story long, for the Lumiere I would go with the Organge! It's already an eye catching watch with the fully lumed indices and hands, and in organge it's a great summer watch.
You can't go wrong with the black either, hahaha

Re: Orange or Black Lumiere?
I had the exact same dilemma last week. I wanted a Lumiere and couldn’t decide, flipping and flopping between orange and black/grey. My watch collection has only one black dial diver (Wise Adamascus GMT), and as already said the black/grey will be more versatile than the orange for daily wear. I used to own a Breitling Superocean in both colourways and I eventually got bored of the orange (or maybe bored of the watch
) I figured the same might happen with the Lumiere, so black it is! I contacted CW to verify the restock at the end of April and the rep said if I ordered there and then they would include a free rubber strap! If truth be told, I can see myself coming back to buy the Orange at a later date.

Thanks everyone for your replies - they have been really helpful!
Good to get some other perspectives and experiences before making a big financial decision.
