I will second (upvote) the earlier poster who noted that surely CW is not trying to get political when embarking on this "Orange Trident" promotional campaign. I hope that watches remain as devices which are free from politics. Even as I can very much appreciate the point being raised in this thread.

Time timekeeping is a utility that is thankfully independent of political affiliation. Otherwise we would be like persons living in Russia wearing Vostoks or in China wearing a Tianjin made watch. Though maybe most Englishmen would be happy only wearing a Christoper Ward, much as USA persons wearing a Hamilton/Timex/Shinola/...

I sold all my Hamiltons (2 Khaki automatic and a Jazzmaster) once I discovered "Made in China" inside the cases...

I am wondering if all of this is being seriously overthought? My first impression was Orange Crush simply referred to having a crush ( developed a strong desire for another) on an orange watch! :?

I was wondering myself how the likes of the Vietnam war was mentioned.

It's only a new watch.

And I'm wondering about all these...
Mine will be only some considerations about a new watch with same (same) ad of a famous rock song (or soft drink, I told this) that spoken about Vietnam war. If the song spoken about love, cars or the Fab four, for example (I'm sorry but I like Rolling Stones), my consideration (or other members consideration) will be about these themes. That's all. Important is the new entry watch.
Don't worry about politics... :D

The combination of orange and aluminium (steel) just reminds me of a Coca-Cola's Fanta, Pepsico's Crush or Dr. Pepper's Orangina.

The Stones are the greatest rock and roll band ever.

The Beatles are the greatest everything else. :D

I think some/most of the CW cases are not made in Switzerland/Europe but in Asia, possibly even China.

I rather suspect that is true. Where much of the cost savings are made.
