Top notch purchase Lindsey. The Alex is a great watch. Enjoy it.

I remember a few popping up in one of CW's clearance sales some years ago, and I bought one as a present for my Secretary/Office Manager; although I can't these days recall the occasion it was bought to mark.

That's a really nice watch. The offset dials and big date, make it, I agree. Congrats on getting your hands on one, Lindsey! Enjoy it in good health.

You reminded me! When I asked Christopher Ward if he could find an Alex Sport down the back of Wera’s sofa he sent me one of these bracelets FOC! :D I don’t know where I put it but I remember putting it aside because I needed to take a couple of links out.... I think I’ve moved house twice since then so who knows where it might be now!

This watch somehow makes me feel totally old skool and nostalgic- it was in my mind a different era in the growth of CW, but it’s also the style of watch I’d have loved in my early years of looking for cool watches.
Similar sentiment here, MissF. This was a time when I was trying to get Mrs Milkman a nice watch. We did try the Alex but it wasn’t for her. She settled on a rather splendid Coral instead 8)

My wife and one of my daughters have white and black Corals respectively and the same daughter has a Matisse. Lovely watches both.

Thought I’d just add to this thread having just acquired - in a complete impulse buy - another brilliant old school CW :D

I love the bracelet but I think it’s going to look even better on the right strap.

I'm 2 months late, regarding your Alex purchase, but I'd always liked the look of that. But at that time I already had my Matisse Chrono, as well as a few other quartz chronos, and I didn't see the point of another.

And well done on obtaining a C5A Mk1! I also got mine from another forum member, so long ago I can't remember who it was. Few years ago I managed to grab a few of last CW 18mm Cordovan+bader straps during a CW sale, so I now have my Mk1 on a nice black Cordovan.

Awesome!

I’ve had my C5 aviator for 12 years now, and I’ve ONLY ever worn it on the bracelet. Looking forward to seeing your strap choices for some inspiration!

Thanks! I’m very chuffed with it. I had just been admiring the C5 revival and remarking on how CW were an ambitious company from the start. It’s nice, now, to be able to enjoy some nostalgia. But the SE at 40mm is too big for me. Then - up popped this original!

Some models are timeless and this is one of them. Great addition to any collection.

What other CW models do people feel are timeless?

Yup, the 38mm is a better fit for small wrists. As for strap trials, prior to the Cordovan I've had mine on buffalo, racing, gator (grain and genuine) straps, all black. Tried it once on a dark brown strap but didn't like it.

C5 Mk1 of course. So good they made a revival.
