I must admit I do prefer my watches that have a domed crystal, it doesn’t have to be excessive but it does elevate the watch over those that have a flat one in my opinion. The only watches I now own that have flat crystals are two of my home builds.

Is there a chance CW might move away from having flat crystals across their range?

I'm really pleased that my original suggestion provoked so much discussion and has got us to the definitive point where the Trident should definitely go, or stay! :D

I agree with the idea of evolution rather than revolution.
Love the idea of a textured dial appearance (like grand seiko)
GMT complication - fully colour the gmt hand
Titanium as an option
Sailcloth strap
Keep the trident!!

For the blue/green dials which fall more on the sea-inspired side of ‘Sealander’, keep the trident. For the green/earthier dials which are more on the ‘land’ side, add a prong and make it a pitchfork.

On a more serious note, I’ve been giving it quite a lot of thought and will write a proper post!

KevinB wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 3:06 pm I purchased my black-dial GMT shortly after release and it has easily been my most-worn watch since. I love the idea of additional dial textures/materials/colors, but the fundamental watch is nearly perfect for me…I just got back from 12 days in Egypt where I chose it over a Tudor BB GMT specifically for flying under the radar and didn't regret the choice for one moment. It was awesome! Don’t mess with it. I hope it remains in the catalogue for a LONG time.
Much to agree with here. I’m in Türkiye with my black GMT right now. Superb travel watch.
The caller vs. traveler debate for the GMT, as one who for many years was the use-case for these watches, I find dull. There are plenty of moments on an international trip to set an independent GMT hand and hour hand. Getting home to a traveler that didn't come? I hate having to flip the hour hand for 2 x days since worn. They are both equally a pain - just depends where you want the pain to be. I think moving to a traveler-type movement would end the bad-mouthing about "just a caller", but this only really matters if the next-gen has in its mission to stifle bad-mouthing in the forums. Does the customer base outside of the enthusiast market care or even understand the difference?
We can agree to differ on this. If they ever made a traveller it would be to progress and refine the range/brand, rather than to shut up a few individuals on a forum. It’s a “big brand” take on one of the best complications, and therefore something to which I hope CW will aspire at some time in the future. The Sealander would be the perfect vehicle for it IMHO.

Just a few people rocking the boat ...
(Making waves, if you will)
(Being sTrident)
I can't sea why there's such a big swell of opinion on it - it's just a surf-ace issue
No need for anyone to get salty about it ....

I have a few Sealanders, a mix of 36mm and 38mm, both 3 hander and GMT.

They are well designed watches. That puts me in the don’t fix what isn’t broke category. Just a few tweaks, maybe even only on a few models.

Case sizes - leave as they are, although if CW think there is a market to add a 41mm I assume that they will.

Case brushing and finishing - leave as is.

Case material - leave as is for core. Add occasional models in titanium (not like the titanium elite!).

Crown - leave as is. No need to alter it.

Bezels - leave as they are, no need for any fluted nonsense or other finish. Certainly do not switch to a polished top to the bezel.

GMT function and layout - leave for the core range, but see comment further on for an additional version.

GMT office or traveler - yes ‘traveler’ may seem be preferable for some, but does it really matter. Said by someone who rarely bothers to take a GMT abroad (I use my brain to know the time difference) and when I do I generally just alter the time whilst sat on the plane.

Additional version of GMT - 24 hour markers on the dial/rehaut, rather than the bezel. GMT markings on bezel = tool watch. GMT markings on dial = more refined. Perhaps best kept for a couple of LE models and, or models in titanium. In both instances using the better, longer PR movement.

Titanium cases - selective use, combined with the longer PR better movement. Say for a GMT with 24 markings on the dial/rehaut, rather than the bezel, sensible, not shouty dial colour(s).

Hands - leave as is (including the trident), other than when the designer (I.e. expert) thinks they would benefit from say a black outline etc.

Indices and position of date wheel - leave as is.

Dial colours and texture - ensure core range has black, white, blue and green. Further colours from time to time, whilst remembering not everyone wants to wear “look at me” dial colours. Consider use of matt as well as gloss/sunburst options.

Orange - go easy on the use of orange for this range of watches. In most instances red detail would look far better.

Bracelets - female end links. Polished bevels, or edges to the links. Rest of bracelet brushed, as per existing. Reduce width of bracelet by a further 1mm at clasp. Reduce both the length of the clasp blade and the clasp cover.

1) Definitely keep the trident. It is a symbol of "Britania" and represents the British origins of the brand.
2) Increase the size of the 24 hour bezel. It is just a wee bit too skinny. It needs more presence on the watch.
3) The white dial - increase the legibility of the hour markers. They are great in the summer where the lume helps them pop. In the winter they can really fade.
4) Vanta black would be amazing. I'd buy it immediately.

1.) Keep 36mm, but offer additional size options
2.) Keep the male endlinks but please sharpen up the machining of the faux link and tighten up the tolerances.
3.) Refine the Bader bracelet to have steeper taper and beveled edges like the Trident Bader (perhaps taper down to 15mm at the clasp)
4.) Smaller micro adjust clasp
5.) No trident counter balance (that should be reserved for Trident models)
6.) Offer no date option
7.) Offer COSC option
8.) Offer multiple dial finishes (lacquered, semi-matte, brushed)
9.) Polished bezel
10.) Redesigned consort bracelet that matches the style of the new consort on the Bel Canto
11.) Flat crystal
12.) slimmed down light catcher case

I have only the Blue Marine C63 and never handled the three hander or GMT version of the Sealander, still allow me a few observations.

Please keep multiple case sizes, and consider adding 41mm as a regular size if Trident/Lumiere sales support the idea (however I am probably biased with a 19,5 cm wrist). Case design I think is really nice as it is, but please go as thin as technically possible.

Others wrote about textured dial and I love the subtle wave patterns on my watch, so maybe something similar could be considered as an option.

Also if I am not mistaken the SH21 has bigger date wheel, which is very nice, makes the date so much more legible. Probably it is not so simple to change it on the SW200/300, and also the case diameter is a limiting factor, but if anything could be done.

I also like day/date complications, maybe?

From photos the chamfered edges of the Lumiere Bader bracelet looks really nice, I imagine it's even more comfortable to wear, would be nice to have.

And I am a bit afraid to ask, but has there been any progress with the hardness coatings? Sometime ago I read/heard an interview where it was said that it affects finishing very unfavorably. I very much like the idea that not only the crystal is scratch resistant...
