Almost my story as well. I was active duty Air Force and became a civil servant but at the same time of that transistion I joined the Air National Guard and retired with a total of 23 years. Now I'm a contractor working in a civil service agency after retiring form civil service. Glad to have had the military experience, not to mention the retirement.

Sorry, yes, I intended police - attempted jokes on accents (Irish in this case) don't work too well in text do they? - I don't know what I was thinking of.
(though, given the time of the post, I was probably thinking something like 'where did I put that beer I bought this afternoon?')
