new universal watch on regular sh21?

Post by mikeua85 »

The work done on the new LOCO is great, but like the Bel Canto, it's not a watch for everyone, I think many wanted something more versatile and budget-friendly but with their own movement.

Do you think we should expect a new product similar to a white leopard in 2025?

I'd like to see SH21 and the new CW003 make their way into a few more watches as CW seem to have done over the years - dress watches, dive watches, e.t.c.

At the moment they seem to only be using it in their highest end intergrated sports watch designs. Then again I can't blame them as they probably want to recoup R&D costs with statement pieces before dropping it into others.

I'm thinking of Oris for example, where you can typically get the SW200 based model, and then for £1000 extra (rough off-the-top-of-my-head figure) get their in-house movement if preferred. So say a Sapphire Edge for £1000 with SW300, or a modified version for say £2000 with SH21 or CW003.

That would be an interesting proposition. A regular Sh21 not skeleotonized. We can only hope. I am curious about that they doing with the cw002 movement that Mike F hinted at .

Absolutely. I've owned a couple of SH21s over the years, including the original Harrison dress watch, and the SH21 Trident LE.

As for CW002 - perhaps that is the 'new' automatic SH21 rather than the handwound CW003? I have no idea, that's purely a guess :)

A question was asked about CW002 during the on line preview of the C12 Loco.

IIRC the answer was - no it isn’t an automatic version of CW003 it is something else that will be on a watch to be released (watch already finalised) but MF not prepared to give any clues at this stage. CW001 is the new name for SH21.

It is, but especially with an in-house movement I like the safety of the 60 month warranty. Aside from the Blue Marine / Snow Leopard, the elusive C60 Concept and of course the Twelve X, many are now out of warranty.

Not really universal, but the ‘Alliance 02’ - as written in the latest Loupe - is coming sometime this year with SH21. Too bad I am not a member of the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers, so I will not be eligible.

Yes that is a bit disappointing, but hopefully they'll release something based on it to the public, albeit with different dial / artwork? Would be madness (I mean way beyond 'loco') to make a new movement for a run of 100 watches alone!

I love my blue marine with the sh21 movement. I've had it 10 months when I was fortunate to purchase one of the very last available. It was my first serious watch and has become the benchmark that all my purchases and potential purchases are compared to.

The watch (in my opinion) is a looker but with the 5 day reserve, excellent reliability and cosc certification it is just a great piece in so many situations. It's especially brilliant when you compare the specs and performance to other watches of far greater sums of money, the value is just incredible.

Back to the point 😆, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this movement again in any new product that CW produces in the future. I would especially like to see this movement in some kind of evolution of the BMT/snow leopard style crossed with the Lumiere.

Thanks
Pat

I believe that this is going to house the CW-001 which is the original SH21. No new design required as far as the movement goes. Now, the teaser in Loupe 33 is a different matter altogether.
