^^^ Patrick I understand that a 39mm Explorer may be making an appearance on a new owner’s wrist later today.

For me the 39mm Sealander GMT wears larger than a 40mm Explorer 2 - due to the difference in dial/bezel ratio. Fortunately I am happy with both.

Purple on the bracelet has me hooked... in spite of what I said just a few comments ago about FLE lovely monochromeness
I can't help but think this purple watch will help the sales of the purple BC, even if it doesn't need them. It's an unusual colour, but this example is a nicely saturated deep purple. I thought it was terrific at first glance.

I agree with Kip that the Ombre effect compliments the dial colors. Of course, something like that is a matter of opinion. For me, the Ombre effect adds depth & interest to the watch dials. That is one reason why the C60 Atoll was a winner with me.

I’m in the same predicament. I was thinking about sending a screen shot if the new colors to my wife to see if she likes any of the colors (I’m sure that blue would appeal to her!), but she definitely wants a watch on a bracelet. I’m quite confident the new clasp would be too big and uncomfortable on her small wrist.

As someone with really small wrists (15cm, exact same size as my wife), I am incredibly grateful to Christopher Ward for offering not overly feminine watches in my size. There are not many options for me out there. A 36mm watch on me looks even a bit larger than a 39mm on CW's wrist shot press photos. I really envy all of you guys with larger wrists.

But then again it's also quite nice that my wife and I can share our watches with each others. We're never having any discussions about whether I really need one more watch, as one more watch for me technically also means one more watch for her :D

Can someone give an opinion on these for a woman please?

My wife has quite small wrists. I just checked her Certina which is about 30mm diameter and a 16mm strap, with lengths 105/70mm. She has a Tissot, slightly bigger diameter, with an 18mm strap, these two both have MOP disks, and the Tissot has diamond index markers as well. She also has an Eterna that's even smaller with a 14mm bracelet.

I get the feeling that these Sealanders are more a man's watch in a small size if you will. Even a small 20mm strap with 115/75mm pieces would probably be too big for her.

What do you think? How were the older CW ladies watches sized compared with mens?

I made a post straight after you posted this. Do you feel that you and your wife like the same style watches? When I've shown my wife smaller watches that I do have she still reacts that they are men's, whether they fit or not.

I can't speak to any of CWs older ladies watches. But my wife and I have roughly the same size wrist - pretty small, about 6". I enjoy my 36mm sealander, but she thinks it is too small for her. Her main watches are a 40mm tissot auto, a 42mm tissot quartz, and a 38mm Movado.

So, if your wife is used to smaller watches (like the 30mm as you mentioned), the 36mm sealander that is 10.75mm thick very well might feel huge on her. Especially if her watches are Quartz and likely a lot thinner.

All down to personal preference. Buy one and try it out on her! That's what the 60/60 is for. Only 150 available of each of these, so...

^^^^ You can, of course, look up and cross check ALL the CW Ladies watches in the CWArchive.

Happy research.

I initially read this as “old lady” watches! The long forgotten line of CWs marketed to old ladies! They had one that chimed on the hour to remind them to turn the thermostat up. It was called the Bel I-Canto-Get-Get-Warm

Mrs nbg occasionally wears a 36mm Datejust. It’s ok on the jubilee bracelet or a strap. Her wrist is 14cm.

A 36mm Sealander on bracelet. Ok from the top…

However faintly ridiculous from the underside. The clasp is too big and bulky. Ideally the bracelet on a 36 also requires a greater taper.

I can't decide between the oxygen and the foxglove. Personally I like the oxygen, but with the foxglove I might be able to pass on to my daughter when she's older.

The 3 watches I mentioned are automatics. The Certina and Tissot are about 10.8, the Eterna is slimmer, about 10.4 with a domed crystal. All 3 have display case backs.

She also has some quartz fashion watches, Radley types, which are certainly a couple of mm thinner.

It's not the thickness though, it's the overall watch size, wider lug width, and possibly a too long strap. I'll think about it.
