Fantastic colors.

Also happy to see the black 36mm. Possible future gift for my son.

I can't understand it - red was earlier showing out of stock... now showing pre-order, as is the yellow....

I'm really curious as to why the colors are limited editions? I'm trying to understand what the benefit is to a limited run versus a standard color. If the sales of a color start to drop, just discontinue it and maybe add a new color.

I could see making a limited edition with the bonus color matched strap as a way to introduce this with a splash, with a later standard run not getting the strap, maybe.

I also don't get the limited number of coloured ones (and wish they did a limited time rather than limited number) but I guess it's an easy way of selling 200 watches (per colour) in no time as everyone wants one - whereas perhaps the black/white ones will sell fewer than 200 in the same time-frame as people have time to mull it over or wait for a voucher. That's my thinking.

CW’s model strategy is truly baffling sometimes. Why is the bronze Aquitaine the only one that’s COSC certified? Why can you only get the orca black and the cream face Aquitaines as GMTs? Why is the green Sealander the only one with a scratched up dial? Why are the new Sealander colors only in 36mm?

They’re all over the place!

Nice selection of bright summer colors for this bunch of Sealanders. I think CW adding a matching color strap with each watch was a nice touch. Sizing like a lot of watch design is subjective. 36mm wears too small on my wrist with 39mm being about as small as I will go. I know part of the size issue is what a person gets used to but that is smaller than I prefer. Much the same issue that I have with some of AnOrdain's watches. I recognize that the 36mm size may be just the ticket for some people & it is good that CW is doing something to address that market. As for me, I already own a Sealander GMT green ombre & have an Atoll on the way, so I am a happy camper.

That's exactly what I'm doing.

You've captured the broader aspect of my question. The Aquitaine observations are spot on. I've often wondered if its about supply and maybe managing inventory? Maybe its easier to introduce with a few limited offerings then expand? I don't know. As you said, they're all over the place!

Agreed. Sticking to just black and white, for the more general availability, seems a little limited. Perhaps if the new models sell like hotcakes?

Anyway, all watched out for the year (but will be on the lookout come January).

The blue is also showing pre-order as well now, whereas the green is in stock on strap but pre-order on bracelet.

I suspect they will have bands of quantities tied to varying supply prices, and their modelling will likely show them that the black and white variants outsell the colours by large margins. It might be better to sell all of each colour than have stock left which then has to be dumped at sale prices. After all look how difficult it has been to get even 40/50 people to buy certain forum/group variants, which are often quite specific.

In addition, of course, having a limited edition does encourage sales and ensures cashflow, so as a business they will look to do that wherever possible.

In an ideal world, we'd be able to order exactly the variant we want, from a list of options and it would get supplied next day and at a good price... unfortunately the supply chain involved doesn't seem to support that... yet :D

Sounds like they've sold the bracelets they've ordered in for this first batch and indeed the watch heads themselves are still available

It's only in stock on the camel strap, not on the bracelet.

As posted on FB... Just a very quick guess... I'd say that yellow, blue and red have moved to "pre-order" no matter what strap option, due to them likely having sold all the batch they had delivered this time (there should be some more coming). The green seems to be in stock on the camel strap though. No colour option is in stock for the bracelet (which implies the bracelets themselves are awaiting re-supply) :problem:
