This is the first CW I've seen in a long time that I'd buy

Too small for “some” of the usual suspects, methinks.

The size question is an interesting one. As a long time advocate of smaller watches, I might have been expected to be interested.

I would be interested in a 36 mm watch from CW, but not in the style of the Sealander. Something with a dial like the C9 SS, maybe, but in a slim case with a hand wound movement. Not SH21 - too big and thick unless reworked. Thinking Nomos Ludwig style.

For the GODO/vaguely toolish type of watch, I’ve become so used to the sizes around 40mm (+/-) now that I would probably find 36 mm too small in that context. Weird. :problem:

On the other hand, for larger-wristed people, having a 36mm sporty/toolish watch probably means it can do double duty as a somewhat formal watch as well.

Based on the pictures/videos on the CW site, the Swish logo is not a flat print on the dial, but raised. Looks nice.

I’ve never given too much thought to lug width as a proportion of watch diameter, except to note that it’s not uncommon for me to find that straps look ‘too narrow’ for this or that watch.

So I’m delighted that this 36mm watch has a 20mm lug width, when it’s quite possible for sizes down to 18mm to be considered on a watch with this diameter.

Is it just more common for sports and tool watches to have a relatively wider lug width?

Whatever - I think the proportions here are great :D

I think they look absolutely amazing! I particularly love the blue dial, and the color matched straps across all four colors are really sharp.

36mm is a tad smaller than I would like, and my partner isn't a huge fan of any of the colors, so will pass this time around. I hope everyone who wants one has been able to get one!

I've ordered the blue one specifically as a gift for my fiancee, but I will try it on of course and see if I could ever get on with 36mm... I expect the answer to be a firm no, as anything below 40mm hasn't worked for me so far... but you never know, it just "might" work :problem:

What a wonderful gift for your fiancee! I had exactly the same idea, but I don't think the colors were my partner's favorite, and I can't risk finding out that 36mm watches also work for me - that would be disastrous to my wallet!

Thanks :D

Yes, I'd also be "disappointed" to find that I suddenly loved these small sizes  However, I do think that is highly unlikely fortunately 8)

I don’t think that there is any correlation between - large wrist = 36mm too small.

The reason I say that is viewing the CW and non CW of the day thread over the years. :)

There are plenty of folk on here, with a wrist of 6.5”-7” that think anything less than 40mm-42mm is too small. I think it just comes down to personal choice, as to how folk like to wear their watches.

Also not really sure where large wrist territory really starts? 8”?

I do though find it amusing that some, with a wrist size of less than 7”, think that wearing a large watch makes their wrist look larger. When in reality the opposite is the case.

The black and white look really good. They shaved 1/2 mm of thickness on the case from the 39mm version too. These are going to sit really well on the wrist. They did a great job on these. I agree with an earlier post that white TF on the yellow dial would have looked better. I bet a prototype of that will surface at some point. Probably the other colors with black TFs will too.
