A question to our members who are outside the UK.
Do you have a similar expression to "Cutting your nose off to spite your face"?

Congratulations on your CWL collection. You have done well. We would love to see some photos.

You must remember that this forum is independently owned and operated. CWL does not make the rules or guidelines.

Curious as to how a new member who currently has 5, 10, or even 20 posts, would be misusing the forum by going into the Sales Corner just to buy a watch? And what makes a member who has 30 posts more honest than one who only has 29?

If a member with only 5 posts abuses/spams the Sales Corner, one of the Mods can easily ban him in less than 30 seconds. So it sounds like all members with less than 30 posts are guilty until proven innocent (at least in the USA, that is ass backwards).

And it's odd that the first time I question this policy (or someone's interpretation), comes on my 30th post.

As new to this site it's a little furstrating as I am still learning but can quite understand why it has been taken to 30. It will be sod's law I will get to high 20's and it will be taken up to 40

Take 2 minutes to go to the beginning of this thread and read it.
If you can read this you are too close to your computer screen....

as someone who has never posted to this forum I think this rule is a good idea. I am a memebr of a Morgan (cars) forum, and it can be a constant job to avoid trolls, spammers etc.

I'll second that!

I agree that there should be some rules regarding sales posts. A heros and Villains section is a good idea too IMO

If you have any interest at all in the forum, the posts mount up very quickly. I really don't see 30 posts as a high bar. Especially when I can drop helpful comments like this in so many places.

(Dicing with exclusion for speedposting...)

Time to go!

BTW, I assume that the 30 limit corresponds with promotion from "Newbie" to "Junior"?

I think it's an obvious rite of passage.

(Personally, I'm not a collector and am already so attached to my C10 that I can't see myself trifling with another. Anyway, I have a very limited number of left wrists)

So I'm unlikely to make practical use of the privileges of Juniordom. But I'll still be interested to see what is going on.

Cheers,

Will

Would it not be possible to just ban members from creating threads (in sales forum) until they reach 30 posts? As a new member it would nice to have the ability to view the sales posts from 'trusted' members.
