New moon phase watch
Gleaned from Loupe 30's "Drawing board".
"We’ve been working on a new watch that uses it [C1 Moonglow] as a starting point, but takes it in a different direction,” says CW designer William Brackfield.
The CW team have takena less-is-more approach. “This watch reduces the Moonglow to its essentials so that it’s almost abstract,” he says. “And yet it still delivers the same moonphase functionality.”
MF: “The dial will surprise many people, not just with its simplicity, but because
of the natural material we’ve made it from,” he says. “Suffice it to say it’ll provide the perfect background to the textured ‘moon’.
Sketchy in the detail but it's enough. I have to say, I'm rather excited by this.
A big fan of the Moonglow, for someone else's wrist. It's a bit big for the type of watch on my skinny thing. Call me hopeful. Perhaps they use the SW-288-1 M a for this one? Fits a smaller watch....
In all the excitement of the 36mm Twelve release, this one's been overlooked. Apparently due October.

I can't see them making an orrery.
Maybe it's like the BC, repurposing a jumping hour mechanism, but in this case it's repurposing the Moonphase complication.
I'm sure it will be interesting. A Moonphase is a romantic complication, even if imperfect. Maybe they found a way to perfect it, so both the waxing and waning phases show the moon correctly. That would be something.

Re: New moon phase watch
I’m very excited too! I think the Moonglow is a wonderful watch. There are so few moonphase watches with a contemporary look and a moon that actually features large on the dial. If this new watch is even more ‘less’ (and has a meteorite dial which I’m guessing at) then maybe this is the reason I held off of the Moonglow for such a long time

Re: New moon phase watch
This sounds very intriguing and interesting too... can't wait to see what they come out with
Of course typically I'm sure it will coincide with another great release too (SH21 v2 perhaps) and then I'm left with a dilemma

I hope I don't like it lol. The Moonglow was close to a buy but wasn't perfect and I filled the moon phase spot with another watch.

Re: New moon phase watch
I read about this in the current loupe which is in the reading room at present. I'm not a million miles from hoping not to have a slavering moment over this. If it's a Bel Canto variant with a hologram of Big Ben playing the westminster chimes I'll be quite safe.Dynamite_Kid19 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 12:51 am I hope I don't like it lol. Not so much moon phase as down phase: I look at the new CW models which came to me in the last twelve months and I'm feeling like I've been grossly overgenerous with myself.

Or maybe a blue aventurine dial representing the night sky ...missF wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 6:52 am I’m very excited too! I think the Moonglow is a wonderful watch. Maybe meteorite? Don't know. Whatever it is it should be interesting.

Re: New moon phase watch
Just saw this elsewhere and thought of this watch. A lunar meteorite dial? Maybe just the little moons are lunar meteorite?

Re: New moon phase watch
^^^^^^
interesting shout.
Although I expect the CW offering will be a tad less 'conspicuous'
I'm just hoping for something a bit smaller than the Moonglow.
The idea of a watch that looks a bit different than the last time you wore it is very appealing to me.

Re: New moon phase watch
Given the release of the new Halo, I’m wondering now now whether the new moonphase will be more dressy than the Moonglow? What say you all? I would love to see another everyday wear watch - which to me is what the Moonglow is. But the new watch might have a rose gold universe to behold!
Re: New moon phase watch
I am wondering the same since they stated that they're taking the "less-is-more" approach.
