Re: New moon phase watch
I was surprised to see the "swiss made" as the only embellishment to the dial.
Anyone spending 2k on a watch knows what he or she is buying, and it seemed a shame to include just that on the dial.
I wouldn't have minded 12 silver (or platinum) dots around the edge of the dial.

It's the reason I don't like "Automatic" on dials, or those 4-line theses you get on some watches.

Yup; and now showing pre-order for early December. I thought it was initially showing November 10th.tikkathree wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 5:39 am UPDATE early doors Friday 27th October: I see that overnight both versions have slipped over into Pre-order.
Clearly there are plenty of buyers who are not bothered by, or even appreciate, SWISS MADE on the dial that is otherwise devoid of any detail.

. . . . .but to have SWISS MADE on the dial is like a seal of approval.

Yes, Guy, but I've done my research. I don't need my watch to remind me where it was made.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 7:00 pm . . . . .but to have SWISS MADE on the dial is like a seal of approval.

^^^^ I know you don't, Steve but I need it there to show all the non-WIS that I show it to, that it is a watch of quality.

Re: New moon phase watch
Looks a solid winner to me. The clean dial works well. And the centerpiece complication is excellently developed. I don’t know as I’d get it; I’ve been back and forth with the whole idea of a moon complication if only because it needs to be accurate and as I swap watches haphazardly and I don’t own a winder, I’m not keen on the constant setting.
The aventurine dial appeals greatly. The handset with the black polished finish suits. The whole package wows me. Great result, CW!

Re: New moon phase watch

If I bought the watch…
I would set the time as accurately as possible. It’s good to know the time. I dislike tardy timekeeping.
I wouldn’t bother about setting the Moonphase accurately. To me setting it accurately would be completely irrelevant. I would just set it to show a full, or sizeable chunk of the Moon, because it would have visual appeal.
If I was a lycanthrope I might take a different view…

Re: New moon phase watch
Swiss made is also a bit of a misnomer considering parts are sourced from all over (many brands not just CW). I've always thought those who can should go with Swiss Assembled

It’s just a legal term that doesn’t have as much value as it used to.
I couldn’t care less that 60% of the manufacturing costs are incurred in Switzerland. I care if the items are quality or not, which Swiss made does not guarantee.

Re: New moon phase watch
Surely there’s no point having a moonphase watch if it doesn’t remind me when the dog is going to start behaving weird in the middle of the night??

That's when the whole of the moon is visible, but it's hard to tell that day from the one before it the one after in truth.
Re: New moon phase watch
As a retired police officer I could have used a moonphase when I was working to remind me when it was a full moon and all the crazies came out to play.
People that are not first responders “ooh look at that pretty full moon.”
First responders, “oh sh** it’s a full moon tonight.”
