Yeah, IWC uses cousteau. Some of their watches even feature a disc of wood from the Calypso on the case back. And since you brought up IWC divers I'm in love with this one. I can only look at it once in awhile though otherwise I'll do something stupid like buy it. On the subject of names I did think that they should stick to good old British diving birds for inspiration...
But Cormorant, Razorbill, Tern, Gannet, Shag or Guillemot just don't seem to do it for me!

Sorry to comment on an old discussion, but I believe Lumibrite is a proprietary Seiko formulation/brand. My understanding is that Super Luminova was formulated off of Seiko's forumula but could not be the same as Lumibrite due to obvious patent protection.

Watches are like Dictionaries; the worst is better than none, and the best cannot be expected to go quite true.

I understand your reasoning but it sounds too much like an insult to me.wilko wrote:how about hammerhead for the name?
Re: New Dive Watch Discussion
The luminousity of SuperLuminova depends upon the grade (I believe C3 is the top grade), the color (some are brighter and last longer than others), the surface area of application, and the # of layers of application. This is why some watches lume better/worse than others while all using SuperLuminova. I am unsure which material ESQ uses but mine lumes better than either my Invicta (Tritnite [manual says it must be charged 4-5 hrs. from light source to glow brightly -- yeah, that's feasible]) or CW (Superluminova).
My #1 request for a future diver is a divers' clasp with safety. The lack of such along with the lack of half link availability is inexcusable and the only valid complaint I can make about my C6.
#2 request: a 40mm case to fit my girlish wrists better.
