I’m very pleased at the return of quartz watches, although I won’t be buying this one. My daily watch is a c.2009 C3 Malvern Chronograph which only needs adjusting twice a year when the UK clocks go back or forward, and still only on its third battery. It’s a bit too similar to this new C63 and I think 39mm is tad too small.

I’d rather have a CW quartz than a non-COSC CW auto with only 38 hours power reserve. I’d love to see the return of the quartz ‘Chr.Ward’ C30 Trident 42 or 43mm with burgundy besel.That was a great watch.

Looks very nice. Won’t be buying myself, as I’ve got no military connection other than grandparents, and already got CW quartz chronographs.

Not sure why people are unhappy or whatever about it being quartz…some of the nicest looking older CWs are quartz in my opinion!

There's a lot to like about the C63 Valour;- Military connection, Panda dial, HAQ movement, reasonable size; I'd prefer it a mm or two larger but hey ho, 39mm works okay.

I don't need the Consort bracelet as I have one for my C63 FLE that will fit. The rest of the time I'll wear it on any number of NATO straps that I have.

All that remains is to see if 'End of April 2024' is correct for delivery.

I'm going to stay on the fence for a bit longer but am looking forward to seeing real-world pictures of one of these hopefully very soon. Thanks for the reminder regarding Blue Light discount, although I'll have to 'fess up to ordering before I can ask my other half to place an order with her card.

I might have to order one of these. A good looking thin quartz with a thermo-compensated movement.

On a side note.

Mike France to CW marketing team. We ordered a boat load of casebacks with the Queens Crown on them and it's going to cost us a lot of money to change it now. Figure out a way to use them.

Marketing team after several late night meetings. Let's say "Each heraldic badge features the ‘Queen’s crown’ – a mark of reverence to the late Queen Elizabeth II" and engrave around the outside "Approved by His Majesty's armed forces." Mike France to Marketing team, "Brilliant."

Only thing is I own a Dartmouth & the Queen’s Crown is sized differently by itself on the case back. With these the sizing is different.

How did you get the battery changed? Through CW?

I think this is priced slightly high (only because it’s going to be just high enough to trigger a duty fee to the US). I think if I was in the market for a chrono (I’m not) then this would be under consideration.

Although only a 30 minute totalizer is a huge minus in my book. While I know they’re not designing the movement, a 12 hour totalizer instead of 1/10th of a second would be so much more practical.

1/10 counters are not a great deal of use if you’re trying to time something by sight.

The most expensive version on the Consort bracelet is $790. It's even less if you purchase it in UK Pounds due to the current exchange rate. There should be no duty fees when shipped to the USA as it needs to be over $800 to trigger customs duties.

Sales tax will put it above $800, but I just did a test checkout run, and found that even though it's over $800 after tax, it doesn't trigger customs duties

The initial batch of, say, 50 pieces with pre-order end April 2024 has clearly been taken (they had been by mid afternoon) as we're now looking at pre-order early-May.

Interesting, I wonder if the new system allows tax to be excluded. When I bought my 36mm Sealander, it was $800. Take kicked it to $860ish and I did have to pay.

$800 is the mark. $799 it would have skated.

I change my own batteries. Just done my C3.

If they are all kept under £700 it would be an easier sell, mainly psychologically. CW have bust the older pricing brackets and the stealth increases and repositioning are here to stay.

A tissot pr516 quartz chronograph is £475 full price on bracelet.

The Tissot is a Powerdrive but doesn’t claim Precidrive so it’ll be one of the five cheaper, non-thermoregulated, non-chronometer variations of the G10-212 calibre. Tissot’s bracelets also can’t hold a candle to CW’s (something that applies to even the Longines Hydroconquest from the same stable), and the case finishing is much less impressive.

I think the price difference is well justified.
