I think there were some really nice looking watches up there, the only shocker was the price on some of them.

I also think it would be a great idea for the website to show some wrist shots of the new watches, it gives a much better idea of how the watch will wear and as with CW watches they always look much better on then in a box….!

For me, this is the pick of the bunch. The price isn't tooooo bad at £450... but I thing the copywriter went a bit over the top writing "Eat your heart out, Rolex!". It's a shame the vanilla auto is not available with the orange highlights.

The C9s are not really my sort of thing. I think the C90 is nearly there; I'm not sure if it is the hands, the 24h ring, or what it is that isn't right for me. The price tag is certainly ummm... 'impressive' compared to the CWLs I'm used to.
The yellow C60 auto is quite nice too.

I'm just the opposite. The prices don't frighten me, it is just that the watches aren't exciting enough to warrant them. :(

In the brief time that it was up I saw some great looking watches.
However, I do have to second most of you in that the prices are astonishingly high. As much as I like my one CW (with another one on its' way), I would find myself hard pressed shelling out close to $1300 Canadian for an online watch that I would not be able to touch beforehand.

CW is clearly trying to enter unchartered territory. I believe that they'll have difficulty with this particular price point.

Just as well I did a screen shot then for those that missed it. 8) CWL often do this on the web site.

So i would say that to go just because you don't like the new offerings is a bit of an over reaction. Stick around and be a grumpy old sod like me
Quite agree. I have tried some of the other forums and don't either like the structure of the forum itself or it is so busy that you get lots of posts (too many to keep up with) or the people are just not as nice as the people here. Even the grumpy ones.

If you want to see them on the CW website, use the search function.
"Trident", "C9" etc
The pages are all there, just the menu structure needs to be made live.

If you go to the CW sitemap in the bottom right hand corner you will find links to all the new watches on page 7. :D

I have spotted an error - on the C9 Harrison automatic page it shows a picture of the exhibition caseback engraved as having 21 jewels. As we know the ETA 2824-2 has 25, the GMT 2893-2 has 21, hope they have only put the wrong picture on the the page and not engraved the caseback incorrectly. :?

And the blurb states 10 ATM resist but the case back states 5 ATM.

I'd had a look at some of the rather negative responses towards the trident before looking at the product pages, and i have to say i do rather like some of them... I really like the choice he's given us... I specifically like the black bezel trident at £340.. although as said the GMT is strangely priced... am i right in thinking there will be no quartz for us chepos?... (although tbh if i was getting that watch, which im not since im broke, i would go for the automatic).. i love the face...

not sure i get the point of the COSC C70 although it is limited edition... i spose it people will buy it...... i'm also intrigued by the price of the C7 next to the Trident.. They're priced very closely, and on paper the trident is a bit better... then again i spose they're built on the same case... i'd go for the trident though for £50 more

To be honest we could all pretty much copy and paste our responses from the preview threads:
http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... f=7&t=3853
http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... f=7&t=4906

It's interesting that there are few surprises here. I still like the Trident GMT (and I like the hands, although I seem to be in a minority here) but I am disappointed with the colour choices. I may wait and see what comes along - we can likely expect the new models to be around for a few years, I guess.

I do like the C9s as well, but I'm still not sure how the prices were achieved - the ETA movements for GMTs are not that much more than the standard, and although the power reserve movement is a bit more again it isn't that much more. The chronos aren't unreasonable but they're hardly great value for a base 7750 movement - Tissots and Hamiltons can be had for about 20% less and even small, comparable brands like Steinhart, RLT, O&W, etc., are cheaper. I know they can be had at higher prices too (although only a mug would pay Bremont prices) but the more usual view of CWL is an inexpensive watch. I think I'll hold off a base model as they are still using undecorated movements, which is silly with a display case (I'd be happier to pay the extra few quid that a decorated version costs), but maybe, as Ian has said already, with Nearly New or the inevitable sale something might sway me.

What a shame the C90 didn't get better hands and the more understated dial that I liked from the GTG:

Ho hum, back to searching sales corner for a C5 with decorated movement... :lupe:

What a way to go out after hitting over 1000 posts :abschied:
:winken:
But paw3001, you must see that many of us feel the same about the new models.
You don't need a CWL to be a member, and we enjoy your company, so don't be too hasty to leave if you still like the forumming but not the new watches. Remember, the forum is not officially endorsed by Christopher Ward!

Some models might be better with a refinement, or possible, LE, and who knows what will come along next year?

I do slightly fear that the long-term goal of mass-market appeal (which, as a business, must be CWL's goal) will eventually alienate us early, enthusiastic fans, but we must wait and see. It is easy to say that this year has been a case of Quartz (even on the C5), COSC-quartz ( :lepra: ), bright, blingy dials and poor attempts at homages, but there are still a few classics in there - the C9 is understated and classy and the Trident has the base ingredients of a nice watch, which went a bit awry (but could be rescued in time!).

So... don't go!

I am of the same opinion as Andy here......Yes our focus is meant to be CWL but as you are well aware there is plenty of other topics that come. We like having you and value your opinions wether we agree or not. I hope you stay.
