The previous 5 day movement needed about 70 IIRCPaulWB wrote:It certainly looks a like a very well thought out watch - for me it shows that CWL have taken themselves to another level.
I would have liked to have seen a brushed SS case (with SS bridge).
I do wonder with the hand wound movement how many turns you need to do to get the 5 days power reserve.

Two thumbs up from me. But not a watch I would buy. 40mm and a stainless steel brushed finish would have me reaching for my wallet though. The logo is right on this one too in my eyes. Well done CW.

I think this is a triumph and a real return to form. Great design, great detailing and an in-house movement.
And the case is only 11mm tall.
A winner imo.

I agree that it's a great looking watch. The logo looks 'right' and works. C8 UTC World Timer looks good, but this is on another level. The power reserve dial is a really useful addition on a manual watch that has a five day power reserve.
Trying not to buy any more watches...

This is where I am at too. Two niggles are the multi-date window, which I really loathe and the size. 46mm would be a perfect size.downer wrote:I think this is a triumph and a real return to form. Great design, great detailing and an in-house movement.

Heck yeah. I will go along with this! 46mm would be spot on for me!jmarchitect wrote:This is where I am at too. I do like this watch. The design is great. It's a bit big for me though and I'm not a fan of hand wound watches. I hope it's a big seller for CW though.

Re: New C8 Flyer SH21?
OK, I'm not a design expert, but I am logical...
1) On first glance, I liked the design of the watch
2) I don't like the logo
3) Therefore I don't like the design of the watch overall.
When I look at it, it comes together nicely. It really does. At very first glace I thought it was stunning. Then I really focused on the logo. The watch is vintage but the logo is modern. Therefore with clashing elements, I can't like the watch.

Here here... stainless steel version and I'm all over it. Even if it will take me a little while to save up for itMagnus wrote:I do like this.
Currently not a fan of black watches though so it'll be a pass from be.
A brushed ss version though...
Glad to see the logo centered.

Re: New C8 Flyer SH21?
Not too shabby. The logo looks better centered at 12. The dial is well executed, and CW have out-IWC'ed IWC with the treatment of the 3-date window. Nicer than the Mk XVIII window. The new movement bridge and finishing looks top-notch. While I quite like the idea of the barrel finish matching the crown (I REALLY like that little detail), I think they are diluting the branding by not using the same crown design across the range. Perhaps the intention is to use the wind tunnel motif on all aviation watches, but I think they need to focus on getting the flag logo out there first.

man, I really like this one too, if the case was brushed stainless I'd be saving my pennies.

Wow..... impressed....... was giving up hope on CHR Ward. This watch is impressive. I would like to get one if the stars align. Would very much like to see some wrist shots.
Re: New C8 Flyer SH21?
There seems to be enough support for a SS version. C'mon C ward...make it happen...
Btw not sure if anyone noticed (may be old news) but the quick-release spring bars are back

Re: New C8 Flyer SH21?
The date window is very clever, with the cutout dates allowing the current date to be highlighted.
On the IWC Mk 17 the idea of being able to see the preceding and subsequent day numbers actually aids legibility (imo), and some of that benefit is negated on the CW, but it is a nice feature and shows a great design feature with the cutout date wheel.
