The black works very well on the bracelet.

unforced_error wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 10:13 pm I like the salmon dial a lot more than the green dial I have reserved. However, with these 4 new colors being "open serial" it definitely makes the Bel Canto seem less special in general. In today's market, rarity equates to price stability, which is something that CW is largely affected by. With "open" production, the more pieces enters the market the lower the price and demand drops.

I understand CW is trying to capitalize on the hype but I think they may see a fair bit of returns which ultimately comes back to haunt them.
CW did make a special watch, but they aren't trying to keep it exclusive, via high price or a very exclusive run. Plenty of other brands are doing that repeatedly. If they only sold the initial 300 in blue then they really wouldn't be making much, if any, money back on the cost that went into the R&D, design, production etc. Their intention is to get a chiming watch on the wrists of as many people who want one. Certainly nothing wrong with them capitalizing on the work done to create the Bel Canto. Even at retail, no matter how many they produce, it's worth the money from a materials, design, complication point of view. Not going to find anything else even close to it or in the same price range. If exclusive is what someone wants, then the blue and green serialized versions exist and won't be produced again. My thoughts on it anyway...
To be honest if they sold 1000 more in each of these new colours, there would be less than 5000 of them around the world, and only 300 of the original blue and green. I doubt many people would ever see one in the wild. That omega "man on the moon" watch, the numbered edition, only got up to 14000 or so. You don't see those for sale very often.

I don't think I will be buying one, but congratulations to those who do. . :D

I was SO keen to receive this email with the available colour options for the open series.
And then I saw the colours and I don't want any of them. :(

I don't like the new colours. But I don't see anything wrong with releasing completely different new colours after having LE releases of the original colours.

CW's practice has always been that "limited edition" means "of that particular colour", not so much "of that model". See FLE Scooter Blue vs that awfully (and awful IMO) bright blue open release Trident C60.

Here is a funny one, please tell me if I am being obtuse or just plain stupid. I order a blue one with the Titanium strap. I ask via email if I can order a blue strap. Merchandising say “no”.
Why can’t they just offer to alter my order and let me buy the Titanium strap which is listed as a stand alone item? When I bought the C60 Concept they let me choose both straps so why not this time?
I have sent an email to the Bel Canto email address rather than customer services and we will see what comes of it.

UPDATE
It’s because it’s a deposit and the system will not allow both to be ordered. When it’s released for delivery and therefore payment then I can order the other strap. Took reaching out to Mike France to get that explained.

albionphoto wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 10:53 pm I have a Bel Canto, one of the original blue ones. As I don't intend to sell it I have no problem with the second hand value going down. Neither do I agree with the idea that releasing it as an open series is bad form or a slap in the face for buyers of the original limited edition colours. I might be more miffed if they had re-released the blue and green colours as a normal series but they haven't. If I was so desperate to get one that I paid a couple of thousand pounds over MSRP for a second hand one then that's my problem not Christopher Ward's. Caveat emptor and perhaps you'll be a bit more careful in the future.

If the first 600 limited edition watches show CW that they have a route out of value dive watches and into the world of "petit luxury" then great. The 1,000 pound dive watch market can only get fuller, more desperate and harder to swim in. I want the brand to do well and if having ranges in the 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000+ brackets is they do that then the Bel Canto is a harbinger of great things to come.

Christopher Ward need the Bel Canto to be a success. Its original success caught them by surprise. They had a winner and they didn't know it. Good for them. If there is a market for the watch in larger numbers then they should take that opportunity. Looking at the new, open-series colours I'd say the black is the winner.
For anyone wanting either the blue or the green dial I imagine the best route is an email to CW asking to be put on standby/born in kind for any returns?

I'm still struggling to fall for any of the 2023 colourways and am pushing myself to think other than "diver black".

So what colours might throw the light switch for us?

Honestly the pale blue is the nearest to holding my attention but it remains a case of least worse . I'm wearing a sunburst orange dial C6 Kingfisher and I remember a time of being very "orange sensitive".

Clearly not an ombre dial here but what about a nice clerical/slate grey? I think there'd be scope for a deep brown sunburst? A pale green?

I was surprised there wasn't a burgundy - not a bright red, a deep red, (rather like the blue, green and red in the omega heritage 57 collection). I also thought there might have been a white dial.

Anyway, when I clicked through yesterday, I was able to get to a CWL page, and expand the images to see the colours more clearly, although I wasn't able to copy and save an image. I can't do that now, and it's hard to see the colours closely without a zoom option. Am I missing something?

I agree about the bird part. It was mentioned that it began to resemble a bird and upon realising they developed that further. I probably would have preferred the opposite and would have set off on a path if possible to ensure that it was no longer bird like!

The new colours are a good idea if they can keep the die hards on side that it was a limited colour rather than watch which MF did say but there was lots of cloudy reference about this been limited and as if it was going to rare generally I believe.

The black although it probably has a better name, along with the original blue look best although I would have dropped the red beak and done a less obvious colour as it stands out too much for me.

That’s exactly what puts me off. It looks too much like a bad image of a bird and I cannot not see it wherever pics are posted.

Not to mention the price, and for a CW, wow.

Hi all,

I've been watching these forums with interest for a while and thought I would 'chime' in :-)

I missed out on the dark blue which was definitely my favourite judging by the pictures (I wasn't as impressed by the green dial) so was interested to to see what other colour options would emerge. For me personally the black one looks the best so I've put down a deposit on that.

@albionphoto, I hope you enjoy your Azzuro blue model!
