That's a useful tip as I haven't heard of them before. Unfortunately though I think the scratches on 2 of the links are too deep to polish out. Just looking again at the pin in the photo suggests he really hammered it as the end looks deformed, hopefully not enough to make it stick.MiniMpi wrote:I've not used it but a Cape Cod cloth may get them polished back up easy enough.
Do a search for cape cod on the forum and it should bring up lots of threads about using it.

No problem, happy to help.
He probably used a pin punch.
The tool I gave you the link for just applies pressure on the pin and it pops out so doesn't damage the pins.

That's disgraceful.Big Elf wrote:Thanks for the link, I've ordered the tool rather than rely on a 'tool' to do the job
I've emailed Customer Support asking if it's possible to buy 3 new links so hopefully I can replace them soon. I'm not a great photographer but this is the damage done by Sarah 'Bodger' Beth Jewellers:

What's the betting that those that do receive the old logo either aren't bothered either way or actually prefer the new one?NathRobson wrote:I have received the very same watch and I am massively disappointed too as I wanted the old logo!

Re: Nearly New - Be advised
I paid someone for their expertise and didn't expect incompetence. If you had a 30K Rolex and someone did that to it would you be happy about it? The Jeweller should operate on the same principle, you get paid, you do a competent job irrespective of the items value.

Great photos too as gives a nice comparison between the case sizes. Once again due to the very open plain dial the 40mm doesn't actually appear any smaller on the wrist than the 43mm World Timer. You can see the difference if you study the lugs, but they wear very much the same size to my eyes.
Re: Nearly New - Be advised
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say. I really like the new logo and think it looks very upmarket compared to the old one. A touch of Chopard about it methinks!NathRobson wrote:Scrogg wrote:Well, the C7 has arrived, and frankly I'm disappointed
I have been looking for an 'as new' MkI for a while now, as I prefer the date at 4, the hands, the layout of the dials and the old logo, so when the latest NN came up last week I was understandably excited...

(Apologies for the hastily-taken iPhone picture)
I am really annoyed with CWL for not making it clear that these have the new logo, so unless anyone wants to give me what I paid (£150.00) and cover the cost of postage I will be sending it back

I use a small hammer, a bit of wood, and a snipped pin to size mine AND I never scratch the links either!!!
I use an old 1930s bone handled dinner knife for strap changing and again, NO scratches on the lugs!!!

Re: Nearly New - Be advised
Like you Scrogg, I too have been after a Mk1 C7 (with original, twin layered dial, old logo, original strap) so, again like you, was excited to see it come up as a nearly new. And, yes, the photo in the nearly new sale listing showed an original logo and original strap). Mine is currently at the RM sorting depot so once collected tomorrow I will report back. It's such a shame that the original, lug-hugging strap isn't used for the C7s anymore .. the new C7 strap, as also used in the 'Phoenix', isn't half as good.Scrogg wrote:Just had an e-mail from Wera confirming that there were both old and new logo C7 available, and that they were just picked for despatch at random...
This actually makes me more sad

Look forward to finding out which version you have been sent...MadJam250 wrote:Like you Scrogg, I too have been after a Mk1 C7 (with original, twin layered dial, old logo, original strap) so, again like you, was excited to see it come up as a nearly new. The strap isn't an issue to me as I had planned to change it for a bracelet from the start (just as I changed my C4 to rubber - albeit that time I convinced Wera to swap it prior to despatch so it cost me nothing), but I do believe the picture on the website (or at least the description if new pictures were not available) should have been accurate.
I am so annoyed about this that when scooter and MiniMpi questioned Chris Ward about it this evening and he basically dismissed it as not a real problem I pulled him up on it and he asked me to e-mail him the details. I don't expect him to be able to do anything about it (Wera has already confirmed all the available MkI were sold) but at least I'll be able to make him aware that to some of his customers what some see as insignificant details are actually very important...

I'm pretty sure the C7 MkI that I bought for my son in law has the new logo.MiniMpi wrote:As Kip said, there were C7 MK 1's produced for a short period with the new logo and I have seen them before on the forum.

I didn't read the response as dismissing you. In fact he said contact him and deb directly and he would see what they could do.

Re: Nearly New - Be advised
I think he was referring to the part earlier where Chris said that since NN watches sell out in "ano seconds" they don't feel the need to do anything about them, or photograph the exact watch, or describe it.

NN – neer really had any problems…. they tend to sell in ano seconds… is there something in particular that is missing
@ Christopher Ward - Wed Sep 09, 2015 9:03 pm
nn – that will be due to loading the wrong image…
Had I not then commented I very much doubt he would have offered to look into it...
