My new CWL diver.

Post by Clach77 »

In my last SOTC post I mentioned that there was a watch incoming to fill the space in the 'limited edition diver's' box.

Image

Well, it's now arrived and I am delighted.

You might be wondering what's so special about a white/cream dial Quartz C6, but the video below gives a clue.

Image

I've always liked the C6 white, but now prefer autos. A few months ago a yellow C60 came up on eBay. No one else bid so I was the lucky winner. The bracelet was not in great condition, but the watch head was good. There were no papers or box. Ailurophile has his, formally my, white C6 up for sale. He kindly sold it back to be for what he paid me.

With both watches in my possession I asked a local jeweller if they could swap the dials for me. I was asked to wait until after Chistmas as they were busy. I can imagine they fancied the job as the cost was minimal, despite needing to take apart and rebuild two watches. I put a spare bracelet on and it's being worn now. I like that it's more subtle than other C60 Kingfishers but has the same look.

The long and the short of it is I'm now the very happy owner for a white C60 Kingfisher auto. I'm calling it 'The Clach'.

Image

If anyone is unhappy about me having a limited edition Kingfisher taken apart I still have all the bits! It's been out together as a Quartz, with 'automatic' on the dial. It'll just stay in a box incase I ever need to put both watches back as they were.

I like the 'Clach' very much , the cream dial will fit in nicely with the other divers.

There's a result!

As you know I also have the C6 white quartz which was assembled for me mid 2015 by the power of "The Sofa". I also have the C60 Kingfisher Auto in "golden glow" dial. You have magically combined your pair to create what might be termed a grail watch?

Do I envy thee? Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? I think I'm content having two quite different watches but power to your elbow Alex!
C60 MKI, MKII, MKIII: "some",
C6 & C60 Kingfishers,
C600 Tritechs,
C63 "some",
C65 "some",
C4, C40, C8, C9, C3, C5, C20 & 23FLE
Some other brands

That's a beauty... a unique watch you should not ever allow to leave your collection.

Eer, I've three of them already.

This is definitely a watch that is going nowhere. I may try it on brown leather sometime, but I like the versatility of it on a bracelet for now.

Alex,

Nice to see an auto white C6 - always my favourite (as it is so unusual a colour on a watch).

I'm now trying it on a brown leather strap. I think I rather like it.
