PS - lovely decorated movement. It seems to be hit and miss as to which ones you get but the decoration is superb...

Looks great, especially with the alligator strap. Mine is silver with the alligator strap. Alligator straps are so fine!

I wish it were, Russ! It's a leather one, but they have the similar grain to alligator...mock-croc!

I that right, If it is, you can't tell. They sure do a great job making leather appear as real alligator leather. Fooled me!....

Very very nice!! The essential C5 in my opinion.

I woul dbe willing to bet that is an ETA movement based on the decorated movement. I have yet to see a Selitta decorated like that in a CWL watch.

24 hour time-check: +5 sec

Big problem: this thing seems to want to attach itself permanently to my wrist - I did manage to take it off for a shower, but it somehow got back on again! Only the others are all upset because it's Sunday, the sun is shining on the righteous in East Anglia, and they're behaving like the kids in school (Oooh - pick me!...mumble-mumble not-fair-you-picked-her-before mumble-mumble) because they all want to go down the pub for a roast lunch and a pint of Woodfordes!

This was never a problem til I joined this forum!

That watch really is a great combination; the timeless, elegant simplicity of the design and a nicely presented, well-established movement, plus a lovely balance of colours between the metal of the case, the dial and the leather of the strap.

It's not just THE classic CW watch, it's a classic watch full stop. :D

To paraphrase downer from a post earlier in this thread, it almost makes me want to get one. Almost.

Hi Steve. Doctor M here. I can help with this condition. Send me your watch (with box and papers) and I will look after it for you. Permanently. In fact, I'm such a nice doctor I'll even pay you for the privilege of curing you. :D

Word to the wise: you need to be very friendly with a pub to pull off the "Sunday-Lunch-Wearing-Four-Watches-On-Each-Arm" trick. Ian has, apparently, managed it but he is known locally as "the weird guy who lives in a warehouse".

I've missed a bit over the weekend so I'm catching up with the activity: As others have said, a really nice movement. I especially like the cut outs in the rotor. Lovely.

You've seen one now, Kip! Surprise for you. I finally got a x10 loupe and looked behind the balance wheel as Ian suggested, and lo and behold...SW200! So, a decorated Sellita.

I also checked out my C8, and that's an ETA 2824-2. One of each, then. 8)

The C5 was my first but it was the silver/white face and tan Alligator strap. I love that Alligator strap. It's so classy and this has got to be the ultimate dress watch of all time. I think if I had ordered the gold C5 I would have gone with the black alligator strap.

Not sure I'd go that far, Russ, but then mine isn't on alligator...what I will say, though, is that I firmly believe it to be the best modern dress watch I could have bought for £250, by a long, long way! :D

And that is why I like Christopher Ward - lovely watches at prices you'd pay for something pretty naff on the high street - long may it remain so!
