Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
Hans, I can't remember whether you posted any results from the "next Forum LE" poll - sorry if I missed a trick, or getting confused (put it down to an age thing):? But I certainly voted for a mechanical version of the C1 Russell (automatic or hand wound - hand wound probably more in keeping with retro style of watch).

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
David, I haven't started an 'official' voting-thread for the next forum-LE yet, but this has been suggested by numerous people as a candidate for the next LE. And I agree: a Russell with mechanical movement would be a great LE, however...... it is impossible! The LE is very flat, and in combination with the dial there is no way a mechanical movement would fit. Then you would have to make a new case and new dial, based on the Russell, and that wouldn't be a Russell LE, but a completely new CW-watch based on the Russell!

And the problem is!!
Um, I see what you mean. So what you are saying is, that any future Forum LE must be based on an existing - or future - CW development.
Maybe the C8 could be a candidate, but for me that would not work given that it is to be 44mm in diameter, which, in all honesty, is too big for me!

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
I have to say i,m a little surprised that the C1 was based on a quartz movement in the first place.
Not sure what CWs position on winding movements are but a copy of the original Russells i would have thought would without doubt been Manual wind, more in keeping with the original concept.
Just my view for what it's worth.
We could get a little silver key to wind it up with Kidding on the last bit of course

X4 !
The following pictures show watches with a ETA/Pesseux 7001. Maybe this could be a candidat, but I don't know the dimensions. Obviously it comes closer to the Russel-style than an Unitas 6498
Nico
EDIT: The Russel has only an height of 7.5 mm. I think there is no chance to fit an mechanical movement into that case!

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
If there is no chance of ever fitting a mechanical movement (hand wound or automatic) into the C1, I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and go ahead and buy one. Bugger I wanted to eat this month as well!!!!
So many watches, so little time (and money!!!).

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
Hans, whats the second hand like? Is it jerky like a normal size second hand is on a quartz or is the jerkiness disguised by its small size? I'm really fighting with myself to not order one but I can't resist....Trust me to crave the most expensive one as well...bugger!!!!

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
Well, it jumps once a second like most other quartzes do, but you are right, because the second-dial and hand are much smaller, you don't notice it so easily.
I must say, although I still greatly prefer mechanical watches, I now own two quartz-watches, the C1 and C6, and I am getting really used to it. There certainly are some (obvious) advantages, it's not bad when I pick one of them up after one or two weeks, and it still runs spot-on time...

Re: My latest CW - C1 Russell
I am hoping the C2 will be an auto version of the Russell. What do you think Hans? Any advance knowledge?
