My First Christopher Ward (finally) - C60 Trident Pro 300 White Dial 42mm
Technically, it is my third purchase but the first one I kept past the 60 day return window.
01-03-2024 (aka January 2024 sale) - Purchased a NOS Dartmouth v1 Blue Dial. I could not get a straight answer about whether or not it had a ghost date position on the crown for the no-date dial so I cancelled the order before it shipped. Customer Service said yes, the Internet said yes and no, and I was too late to ask the forum which said an unequivocal No. Missed opportunity. Live and Learn.
08-04-2024 - Purchased a Trident Pro 300 GMT White Dial. I was able to try it on at the August 1st CWxRedBarNYC event. Unfortunately when the watch arrived, it was as good as a thought but I could not shake the feeling that it reminded me of the Grand Seiko SBGJ237 so I returned it.
11-19-2024 - Purchased a Trident Pro 300 White Dial 42mm. I had also tried on a few of them at the August event and really liked them. I have always liked white dials and with a 7.75" (Fall/Winter) - 8" (Spring/Summer) flat/oval/long-wingspan wrist, the 42mm option seemed best suited for me. When it arrived, it went into my closet lest the wife see it before I was ready to admit to the purchase. Ultimately, I said to her something along the lines of: "Remember that CW watch I purchased last summer and then returned? Well, I got something else from them I like even more."
Having been a watch enthusiast for more than 30 years, I am truly impressed with what CW offer and the pricing is amazing for what one gets. This Trident Pro 300 is far superior than any Citizen, Seiko, Tissot, or similar diver watch on a strap in the under $1,000 category (though I am sure it would be better than any other diver on a bracelet in the under $1500 category). It is so good that I am preparing to sell the three Seiko diver watches that I own (SKX011 mod, Seiko SKXA35 mod, Seiko SNZH Fifth Fathoms mod) because the Trident Pro will replace all of them.
Here is my Trident Pro 300 White Dial 42mm on Tropic Rubber strap as it was shipped and on a closeout black/orange hybrid rubber strap I purchased during the winter sale. I actually like the tropic rubber more because it conforms to the wrist better than the hybrid rubber.

I bought a pool blue 40mm in the sale, and really like that, but my favourite "standard" colour would be the white.
The CW hybrid straps are super, but I would seriously consider a bracelet as well, especially if one popped up in a sale. The orange tropic looks great as well.
.
Enjoy.

I really like the Pool Blue but for me it would need to be at least second after something basic and boring like the white dial.JAFO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:59 pm I bought a pool blue 40mm in the sale, and really like that, but my favourite "standard" colour would be the white.

I plan to get the bracelet but did not order with the watch originally so I could keep under the $800 US limit and avoid the import duty.

Hopefully you'll keep this one, it looks great.
Did I read that you weren't too keen on orange accents? It could have been someone else. If you, have you come around then in that regard?

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy it…. Looks great on both straps. (And I agree the tropic rubber is super comfortable)

It depends, but mostly I do not.MomentsNotice wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:33 pm Did I read that you weren't too keen on orange accents?
On the C60 Trident Pro 300:
- It should have been the Black dial with orange accents and Blue dial with red accents.
- The Green dial (recently discontinued) should have been like the Pool Blue dial without the orange accent color.
- I liked the White dial with orange accents so I bought it.
On the C63 Sealander
- I do not like the orange accents on the Navy Blue (recently discontinued) or Green dials.
- I sort of like it on the White and Black dials.
On the C63 Sealander GMT
- I do not like the orange accents on the Dragonfly Blue or Green dials.
- I really like it on the White and Black dials (though having owned a Rolex Explorer II Polar this is not surprising).

My plan is to also purchase the black tropic rubber, black oak leather, and the bader bracelet so this can be an all-around watch especially for travel.
Day = bracelet
Night = leather strap
Water sports = tropic rubber strap (orange or black depending on my mood or maybe sometimes the hybrid rubber strap)

It would be worth trying an inexpensive Ali X FKM Tropic or similar. They really are pretty good. I've not found a cheap hybrid type that matches a CW, but the FKMs are always consistent.

Appreciate your thoughts! I was feeling the same way when I'd look at many of the watches on the CW website. I've never worn anything with orange.. but, dang if it doesn't work when seen in person.nycWATCHnerd wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:40 am On the C63 Sealander GMT

It provides just the right amount of color pop to keep things interesting.

That's something of a statement strap! Actually somewhere I've got a similar beast in black/grey/white snakeskin print and isn't that the beauty of straps, that you can dress a watch for your own pleasure?
I've never got on with the slender svelte tropic rubber straps and you're right that the CW hybrids would stop an express train.

Re: My First Christopher Ward (finally) - C60 Trident Pro 300 White Dial 42mm
It was a bit of a joke because at my age (50+) I am not cool enough to wear that camo strap. I live and grew up in NYC and often dress like I walked out of a Brooks Brothers (old Brooks Brothers and not that trendy stuff they sell now) or an LL Bean catalog (aka very conservative and boring).tikkathree wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:38 pm That's something of a statement strap! For the past 29 of 30 years I have been a watch enthusiast my mantra was: No good bracelet, no purchase.
I have really taken to leather or rubber straps rather than bracelets in the last year. My current favorite is the infinitely adjustable one piece NATO with Velcro closure on my Tudor FXD. I really like the tropic rubber on my CW Trident 300 and have the official Tropic rubber straps version on other sports watches. I like how they conform so well to the wrist. Maybe the CW Hybrid will get better but I am not hopeful because the Nylon does not flex much.
The best bracelet is the one on the current model 41mm Submariner because of the on the fly adjustment in the clasp. I like the very adjustable bracelet clasp on the Tudor Pelagos but not enough to purchase the watch. I also think the CW has the best adjustment on their Bader bracelet when compared to what else is available at a similar price point and why I plan to get one.

You would need to try it wouldn't you. Its the right colour certainly.nycWATCHnerd wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 4:09 pmI was thinking an Orange/Black/Grey FKM from Straphabit as an option.

It's not expensive so worth a dabble. Actually FKM straps seem to all be single colour, so getting one in multi colours is pretty rare.

If that's too dear try an Xtreme Velcro strap for about £5. I love them on my speedy. I can only find pictures of blue ones on my phone. I like the yellow best.
