Mr. Jones collaboration
Anyone else completely smitten with the Mr. Jones moon phase described in the latest Loupe? I’ll be really curious to see this! I love the creativity and whimsy in Mr. Jones watches.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I'm a huge fan of the designs of the Mr. Jones watches as well Drew. Heading to their stand in NYC in October I was convinced I was going to buy the "A Perfectly Useless Afternoon" one. But I really couldn't get on with the lug style. So unless they're planning on changing that, it might rule it out for me.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
^^^ Again, I've become fascinated by the brand. Not all of their designs are to my taste - I was slightly disappointed that I didn't like the recent (very) limited edition. "A perfectly useless afternoon" and "Night howl" are on my shopping list. Not sure how much wear they will see, but I'll get over that. I like them, they make me smile, and that's reason enough.

That’s it right there, isn’t it? What this whole obsession of ours comes down to.exHowfener wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 11:05 pm I like them, they make me smile, and that's reason enough.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I always had a soft spot for Mr Jones watches. I liked many of their designs for the fun watches they are and their prices are very reasonable.
However they had a stand at the Manchester watch show in November where I was able to handle the watches and try them on. Sadly this has completely put me off them as I now see them as a cheap novelty and a brand I will only ever smile at from afar. I was very underwhelmed by them when I saw them.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I like the concept and don’t have anything against designs like these but just don’t think I’d wear one - marvel at, absolutely! I’m sure that puts me in a conservative middle age bracket and I don’t think I could pull it off wearing one either, but my other thought is I don’t want to have to talk to people about what’s on my wrist and these would be a conversation starter
Although taking a quick look at the website there is one that is relatively conventional (blue with white hands based on UK motorway sign designs)…

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
Knew little about the brand in truth. Just been looking over the site and they're certainly quirky. They look like they should be worn on young, nubile wrists. I am neither young nor nubile and, much to my chagrin, find my tastes becoming a little conservative.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I had exactly the same experience at the Manchester show. However, if a collaboration with CW creates a watch with a good combination of Mr Jones' humour and CW's build quality, then it would be very interesting. Fingers crossed.iain wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 5:46 am I always had a soft spot for Mr Jones watches. I liked many of their designs for the fun watches they are and their prices are very reasonable.

On the other hand, the last humorous collaboration for CW was the Desk Diver, which left me completely cold. So, who knows?!

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
Maybe the dial design will be a frenzied mob circling the summer sale. With the teased jump hour mechanism in the latest copy of Loupe actually being a jump second, representing the frequency with which CS receives an email from someone asking where their order is.

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
What if mrjones makes a super funky moon phase disc or a sun and moon disc and CW put it in the C1 moonphase, maybe tweeking the movement to give you a 24 hr sun/moon err thing……
Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
I found this (https://eu.mrjoneswatches.com/collectio ... ble-sphinx) on their website where they mention that the movement is made by CW and look at that price jump - From their usual 2-300 euro prices for quartz watches to around 5-700 for mechanical to this now 3000 euro price. That`s way too much for a "fun" watch that you were on very rare occasions.welshlad wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 2:31 pmI had exactly the same experience at the Manchester show. Have to agree, Iain.
The whimsical designs are fantastic, but the execution with regard to quality of materials and feel etc, is very poor, in my opinion
I bought my son the, "never forget, you will die" watch, or whatever its name might be

CW watch count - enough to keep me very happy, but always room for more!
Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
For the avoidance of doubt, this is not the collab hinted at in Loupe magazine that kicked off this thread. It looks like it came out in May last year

Re: Mr. Jones collaboration
It may not be the collab hinted in Loupe magazine but it gives a hint on what price point they might be at. As I mentioned in my previous post 3000 euro for a super corky and "fun" watch is a bit steep unless the new collab is much more subtle and can be used as a daily watch.kev017 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 7:38 am For the avoidance of doubt, this is not the collab hinted at in Loupe magazine that kicked off this thread.
